RSGC’s Festive Mission of Kindness: Wishing Upon RSGC

As the festive season wrapped its warmth around us, RSGC embarked on an extraordinary mission of kindness, transforming the traditional holiday cheer into a beacon of hope for the less fortunate. This story isn’t just about an event; it’s about the heartening journey of a community coming together to fulfil the wishes of orphaned children.

EMBRACING THE SPIRIT OF GIVING

Initiated in early December 2023, this pioneering project transcended from being merely an event; it represented a profound pledge to infuse joy into the lives of orphaned children, thanks to the compassionate collaboration of RSGC Members and staff.

A SEASON OF JOY AND HOPE

This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project transformed the holiday season into a canvas of hope and smiles. Spanning from the onset of December to Christmas, our community united in a remarkable demonstration of altruism. The initiative’s highlight was the Children’s Christmas Party on 27 December 2023, an afternoon resonating with laughter and joy, fostering a culture of kindness and sharing.

THE JOURNEY OF SELECTION

Choosing the right homes for this mission posed a significant challenge. Eventually, three orphanages were selected: Rumah Victory Children & Youth Home, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Yesuvin Mahligai (YM) Selangor, and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Thangam Illam. We reached out to these homes and compiled a wish list of 88 children, thanks to the home caretakers Jason Lau, Bhavani, and Sasikala.

A CHRISTMAS TREE OF DREAMS

The Main Lobby of RSGC showcased a beautifully adorned Christmas tree, themed “Wishing Upon RSGC.” Lit up with radiant lights and festive decorations, it also displayed generous gifts from our members and staff.

ORNAMENTS OF HOPE: COMMITMENT TO KINDNESS

DTP Artist Hafidz crafted bespoke wish card ornaments, each bearing a child’s name and their heartfelt wish, adding a personal touch to our tree. These ornaments were the highlight of this project. Our members and staff selected a wish card and pledged their participation. By the deadline, almost every wish was fulfilled, and I personally ensured the last unfulfilled wish was met, reinforcing our commitment to leave no child out.

A CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY

The project culminated in a heartwarming Children’s Christmas party on 27 December 2023. Notable was the collaboration between the Marcom, HR, and Sports Departments in hosting this event. The day was filled with joy, from Captain John Eu’s warm welcome to the high tea buffet, cotton candy, popcorn, and the delightful presence of Santa Claus. Activities like Christmas bauble making, dance performances, and live carols added to the festive atmosphere. The giftgiving ceremony by Santa Claus was a touching finale. “The sparkle and joy in the children’s eyes as they received their gifts was the best part of the day,” said Allen from HR, who dressed up as Santa.

IN REFLECTION: A HEART FULL OF GRATITUDE

“Wishing Upon RSGC” went beyond a CSR initiative; it was a journey where each act of kindness woven together created a tapestry of unforgettable holiday memories. As I reflect on this journey, my heart is filled with immense gratitude for every hand that joined in this beautiful cause. We not only shared gifts; we shared moments, love, and joy, truly embracing the spirit of the holidays.

Organizing such CSR events often brings challenges, especially in ensuring every child’s wish is fulfilled. Our collective efforts ensured this goal was met, with heartfelt thanks extended to all participants and generous donors, whose names are listed in the attached thank you page. Our profound appreciation and blessings go out to all.

The onset of this project brought concerns about fulfilling all the children’s wishes. However, my relief was immense when, at the close, only one child remained. I personally fulfilled this last wish, ensuring no child was overlooked.

This experience, marked by overwhelming kindness and cooperation, left me deeply moved and thankful. It was almost perfect, and in the end, the joy of making a difference was our greatest reward. Thank you to all who joined in this beautiful cause.
