The Committee Members of the term 2023/2024

RSGC’s 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 22 June, the agenda of which included election of office-bearers. For this election, voters could choose to cast votes online or use the ballots. The position of Captain was secured by Mr. Raymond Yeoh Cheng Seong uncontested, while there were six individuals vying for five Term Committee positions. After the nomination day’s deadline, the hopeful candidates were allowed to run their election campaign for a period of one month.

On the voting day itself, the registration started at 11 a.m. with six counters manned by the Management staff. Members were given the choice to either pre-register their attendance or they could choose to do walk-in registrations. For those who were present, they were then issued an envelope containing their voting QR code alongside their colour card. The white card indicates one vote and those with also pink cards indicate they were carrying a proxy votes. Before 2 p.m. registered Members were already taking up their seats in the Main Lounge.

The AGM commenced with the opening speech by the President of RSGC, Nik Azman Mohd Zain. After the President had concluded his speech, the quorum count began, with members indicating their presence by raising their hands, holding their cards, or logging in virtually. The AGM officially began once the required quorum of 100 members was confirmed. The President started his address, then passed the floor to Captain John Eu to present his report. Following this, Voting Session 1, for the election of new office-bearers, which included e-voting, was carried out lasting about 20 minutes.

After the voting session, Members returned to the Main Lounge to participate in the Question and Answer (Q&A) session. Here, Members had the opportunity to engage directly with TC Members, offering feedback and suggestions. TC Members also addressed inquiries submitted beforehand, allowing Members to voice their ideas and receive corresponding responses. The discussion then turned to the three Ordinary Resolutions that the Committee and Members had put out for a vote and of which they were approved by the majority of the Members. The three Ordinary Resolutions were:

• Ordinary Resolution No. 1: THAT Statutory Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2023 and the reports of The Committee and the Auditors be and are hereby approved.

• Ordinary Resolution No 2: THAT Messrs Deloitte PLT be and is hereby re-elected as the Auditors of the Club and that The Committee be and are hereby authorised to fix their remuneration.

• Ordinary Resolution No. 3: (Proposer: Mr. Wong Lee Ming; Seconder: Mr. Lim Chin Tong) THAT The Committee be and is hereby authorised to issue up to Twenty (20) Ordinary Memberships per Calendar Year.

The meeting then proceeded with Engagement Session 2, focusing on the clarifications of all Resolutions. After this, Voting Session 2 for the Resolutions including through e-voting, was carried out, spanning out 20 minutes in total.

Around 5 p.m., the results for both the Voting Sessions, on the election of the Office Bearers as well as the Resolutions were announced. Raymond Yeoh Cheng Seong was named the new Captain of RSGC. He is joined by newly elected Committee members including Dilsher Singh, David Mah Siew Whye @ Daud Mah, Eugene Khoo Kong Hooi, Justin Ong Seng Beng, and Ezani Abu Bakar.
