In a vibrant celebration of Malaysia’s Independence Day, the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) hosted the “Merdeka Drawing & Colouring Contest 2024,” an event that showcased the creativity and unity of our staff. Held on 28th August 2024, this contest brought together employees from various departments, highlighting their artistic talents and patriotic spirit.
The competition challenged participants to create drawings that prominently featured the Jalur Gemilang, Malaysia’s national flag, with a strong emphasis on creativity and artistic interpretation. Each department nominated five staff members to take part, who were given a set amount of fake money to “purchase” their drawing materials from the HR Department. This unique approach added a strategic element to the competition, blending resource management with artistic expression.
Participants embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, producing a diverse array of vibrant and imaginative artworks. Each drawing incorporated the Jalur Gemilang, with many pieces also featuring additional Malaysian elements. These included the multi-racial community, the hibiscus (Malaysia’s national flower), and iconic landmarks such as the Petronas Twin Towers. The creativity on display truly celebrated Malaysia’s heritage and unity.
Admin, Membership & IT Wins
The Admin, Membership & IT team emerged as the winners of the competition. Their artwork stood out for its exceptional use of the Jalur Gemilang and innovative design. The judges were particularly impressed by how the team seamlessly integrated the flag into their design, while also incorporating other Malaysian elements in a creative and aesthetically pleasing manner.
The Admin, Membership & IT team’s winning drawing is now proudly displayed in the staff canteen, alongside the artworks from all participating teams. This serves as a tribute to their artistic achievements and a celebration of Malaysia’s national pride. Each member of the winning team has been awarded a Club T-shirt in recognition of their outstanding creativity and effort.
