This year marked RSGC’s second visit to Korea, adding an exciting destination to the club’s Interclub/Interport calendar. Seven RSGC members, led by Team Captain Justin Ong, traveled to Seoul Hanyang Country Club for the Interclub Friendly Match, with additional games at Nam Seoul Country Club and Mona Yong Pyong Golf Club.
The trip began on 7th October 2024, with members enjoying a traditional Korean BBQ dinner after arriving in Seoul. On 8th October, they played at Nam Seoul Country Club, renowned for hosting the Maekyung Open since 1982. Designed by Seiichi Inoue, the course is famous for its challenging greens and hilly terrain. After the game, RSGC members were warmly welcomed by Mr. Kwang-soo Hur, Chairman of Nam Seoul and a member of the R&A, for a lunch.
A new highlight this year was the visit to Mona Yong Pyong Resort, located about 200 kilometers from Seoul. With its stunning views and top-notch facilities, including a 45-hole golf course, ski slopes, and European-style accommodations, it offered members a memorable experience. Over two days, RSGC members enjoyed rounds at Yongpyong Golf Club and Birch Hill Golf Club, followed by a special dinner hosted by the Mona Yong Pyong Committee. The group also took in the scenic Balwangsan Millennium Yew Tree Forest cable car ride.
The Interclub Friendly Match at Seoul Hanyang Country Club, which began in 2023, continued this year on 9th and 10th October 2024. Despite ongoing renovations at SHCC, the club made a tremendous effort to host RSGC and maintain this wonderful tradition. During the visit, RSGC Team Captain Justin Ong presented an exchange shirt and commemorative plaque to SHCC Chairman Mr. Cho Kap Joo, symbolizing the growing bond between the two clubs.
We deeply appreciate their warm hospitality and look forward to welcoming SHCC back to RSGC next year for another fantastic Interclub experience! We also hope to see more participation from our members for next year’s visit to Korea!
