President’s Prize, Captain’s Prize, And Committee’s Prize 2024

Liew Hoong – Winner of the Committee’s Prize

Cameron Cheah – Winner of the President’s Prize

The President’s Prize, Captain’s Prize, and Committee’s Prize marked the final golf events of 2024, bringing to a close a remarkable RSGC calendar filled with over a hundred golf competitions, including socials, medals, and cup/trophy events. Held on Sunday morning, 15 December 2024, the event played in Stableford format, took place on the Old Course (1st Old & 2nd Old) with green speeds of 9 on the stimpmeter, welcoming a total of 44 players.

The Stableford system was the brainchild of Dr. Frank Barney Gorton Stableford (1870–1959) – hence the capitalised ‘S’ in the name – in order to stop golfers from giving up after a poor start to their rounds.

The three prizes catered to different handicap categories: the President’s Prize for players with a WHS Handicap Index of 10.4 and below, the Captain’s Prize for those between 10.5 and 15.8, and the Committee’s Prize for golfers with an Index of 15.9 to 21.1.

Captain’s Prize

Devin Nair delivered an impressive performance to secure the Captain’s Prize Winner, finishing with an outstanding score of 43 points. His round included a net eagle and seven net birdies, highlighting his dominant play.

In second place was Mohd Silahuddin, who finished with 40 points. Although he managed to score on every hole, it wasn’t enough to surpass the winner’s remarkable result.

As the final event of the year, this competition truly embodied the camaraderie and competitive spirit that define golf games at RSGC. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for making the day another memorable success.

See you next year, with the Club Championship kicking off the 2025 season in January.
