RSGC vs. Ryugasaki: A Friendly Rivalry Continues

RSGC hosted Ryugasaki Country Club (RCC) for a two-day friendly match on 25-26 February 2025. The visiting team, led by RCC Managing Director Mr. Toshio Oki, consisted of 10 men and two ladies. RSGC Captain Raymond Yeoh led the home team.

The event started with a practice round on the first day, giving players a chance to get familiar with the course. The main match followed on the second day on the Old Course (1st Old / 2nd Old) in a four-ball Match Play format. Both teams showed great skill and sportsmanship, and in the end, RSGC secured seven points, while RCC earned three points.

After the match, a prize presentation was held at The Green, where everyone enjoyed a delicious spread of food. The menu featured fresh Caesar salad, sang har mee with tiger prawns, satay, seafood paella, Mongolian lamb, steamed whole seabass, and traditional Malay kuih. Drinks included lemonade, coffee, and tea, making it a perfect way to celebrate the event.

RSGC and RCC have shared a strong friendship since forming a Reciprocal Agreement in 2013, thanks to RSGC member Datuk Ichiro Suzuki. Their first friendly match took place in 2015, and the tradition continues today.

The friendly rivalry continues later this year in Japan, where RSGC and RCC will compete again. Matches are set for November 10-11 at Hakone Country Club and November 13-14 at Ryugasaki Country Club. Golfers from both teams are excited for another great competition and a chance to strengthen their bond.
