We were honoured to host 28 members from the Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC) for this year’s Interport match on Saturday, 28 June 2025. Among the visiting delegates were Mr. Sam Wong, Past Captain of HKGC, and Mr. Che-Ning Liu from the General Committee. The event marked yet another proud chapter in the enduring friendship between the two clubs.
etween the two clubs. RSGC and HKGC have a longstanding reciprocal relationship, with a revised agreement updated in January 2013—well after HKGC’s name change in 1996 from The Royal Hong Kong Golf Club to Hong Kong Golf Club. The Interport Matches between both clubs, played for the coveted Dragon Kris Bowl Trophy, have been held biannually since 1979, when RSGC claimed victory in the very first edition.
HKGC members were warmly welcomed in the early morning with a hearty Malaysian-style breakfast featuring local and western favourites such as nasi lemak, Ipoh kuey teow soup, roti canai, chicken porridge, and a variety of juices, cereals, toasts and fresh fruits— among many more.
After a group photo at the Golfer’s Terrace, the Interport match teed off at 8:04 a.m. on the Old Course under bright skies and ideal playing conditions. At the end of the match, RSGC triumphed once again, securing the Dragon Kris Bowl Trophy with a final score of 17 points to 11.
A lavish prize-giving lunch was served at the Banquet Hall following the game, where guests enjoyed a wide array of hot mains, salads, local specialties, grilled items, desserts and traditional beverages—ending the day with full hearts and full stomachs.
RSGC extends its sincere thanks to all visiting HKGC members for their spirited participation, warm fellowship, and continued support of this storied rivalry. We look forward to our next meeting, whether home or away.
Next stop: Hong Kong! On 30 November, RSGC heads to HKGC’s home ground—let’s retain the trophy we won and bring it back home!
