Once again the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) was abuzz, proudly hosting the 48th RSGC Ladies Amateur Open Championship from 4 to 7 August 2025, welcoming top amateur golfers from 10 countries to the prestigious RSGC Championship Course. This is our Club’s biggest golf event of the year and is the only private golf club Ladies event in Malaysia which is ranked by the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

This year the Championship attracted numerous WAGRranked players, including for the first time, the Thai national team. National players from Bangladesh also participated and many of our own Malaysian national players also competed for their WAGR points. Interestingly this year’s Championship featured 3 sets of sisters, from Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia. Countries represented this year included Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Thailand.

The event teed off with a practice round on 4 August, followed by three days of intense championship play from 5 to 7 August in a stroke play format, comprising three rounds of 18 holes each.

Adding drama to the final day’s leader flight, the championship was decided after a two-hole playoff between Indonesia’s Bianca Naomi Laksono and the Philippines’ Samantha Dizon, with Bianca emerging victorious to claim the title.

This year’s championship belonged entirely to Bianca, who not only clinched the Open Championship title but also achieved a rare sweep, winning all four major trophies:

  • Tuanku Bahiyah Trophy – Gross Champion
  • Toh Puan Norashikin Trophy – Nett Champion
  • Datin Azian Trophy – Team Gross Champion
  • Clarissa Lee Trophy – Team Nett Champion

Carding rounds of 72, 71, and 74, Bianca’s stellar performance marked her first international victory outside Indonesia in her third appearance at the event. Her achievement added a new chapter to the tournament’s history and inspired fellow competitors.

The tournament was made possible through the support of esteemed partners, including MKH, AmBank who sponsored our nowfamed Players Lounge, and Helena Rubinstein as Main Sponsors. F&N served as the official drink, Royal Chulan as the official hotel, and Millennium Welt provided the official courtesy cars, transporting thrilled players from the hotel to the Club in gleaming new BMWs, bearing the event’s livery.

Throughout the championship days, the tournament hosts were actively involved, ensuring smooth operations on and off the course. Media representatives were present during the championship rounds and the Prize Presentation Ceremony, capturing the excitement and highlighting the event’s significance in the regional golf calendar.

Excitement ensued when Nur Diana Syafiqah achieved a holein-one, winning 2 return premium flatbed tickets to Sydney, an achievement made even more special when she received her prize from the CEO of Capital A himself at the Prize Presentation Ceremony, making the closing moments even more memorable. The presence of referees on course ensured the highest standards of fair play and professionalism.

The final day also brought excitement off the greens, with lucky draws adding a festive atmosphere for players and guests.

The 48th RSGC Ladies Amateur Open Championship once again showcased top-tier golfing talent, camaraderie among players from across Asia, and RSGC’s commitment to elevating the sport. The high-level condition of the course with challenging pin positions proved once again why this event holds high attraction for the region’s top amateur ladies. With Bianca’s dramatic playoff win and dominant performance, this year’s edition will be remembered as one of the most remarkable in the tournament’s long history.
