The Traditional LAO Post-Championship Media & Sponsor Appreciation Game
T he East Course of the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) set the stage for a special day this August — the traditional LAO post-Championship Media & Sponsor Appreciation Game 2025, a Stableford competition with prizes for all. It was an occasion not only to honour the Club’s generous sponsors but also to celebrate the media and RSGC Members who continue to carry the story of golf forward.
At 7:48 am sharp, the first groups teed off under a two-point start on the 1st Old and 2nd New. The mix of media representatives and RSGC members in each flight made for an engaging morning. Members shared their familiarity with the East Course, while media players brought enthusiasm and light-hearted competitiveness to the game. Each tee-off was marked with a photo on the tee box — a small but significant touch to capture the excitement of the day.
Breakfast was served at the Main Lounge, à la carte from the Social Menu. Discussions about golf, news, and club life showed that while they may come from different worlds, the love of the game connected them all.
By midday, the morning rounds wound down. The golfers carried off the course stories of impressive drives, creative escapes, and near misses on the greens.
At 12:45 pm everyone gathered at The Green for lunch. Here, the Sponsors joined the celebration, their presence bringing the day’s purpose full circle — an appreciation of both play and partnership.
Over generous helpings, media guests recounted their morning on the greens, while Members chimed in with stories from the course. The Sponsors, though not part of the game, became part of the story as they were warmly welcomed and thanked for their invaluable contributions to the Club.
Those not fortunate enough to win a competition prize all took something home from the Lucky Draw. Each prize was a symbol of appreciation, but it was the laughter that followed each announcement that truly captured the mood of the gathering.
The Media & Sponsor Appreciation Game 2025 is about more than golf or food — it is about connection. For the media and RSGC members, the morning round was a chance to play side by side, reinforcing bonds within the golfing community. For the Sponsors, the luncheon offered well-deserved recognition of their role in sustaining RSGC’s vision and tradition, with promises to continue their support next year.
It was a day that reminded everyone that at RSGC, the spirit of golf lives not just in the game, but in the people who make it possible.
