A group of 26 Members from The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC), led by Team Captain Ezani Abu Bakar, travelled to Jakarta for an Interclub Friendly Match with Jakarta Golf Club (JGC) on Sunday, 6 July 2025.
The day began early with a 6:00 a.m. transfer to JGC. Upon arrival, RSGC Members were warmly welcomed by JGC President Ramli Ibrahim, Captain Togar Manurung and all JGC Members. After registration and breakfast, both clubs gathered for a special treeplanting ceremony at 7:25 a.m. A Casuarina equisetifolia, known as the Pohon Persahabatan (Friendship Tree), was planted to symbolise the close ties between the two clubs.
Following a group photo session, the Interclub match teed off at 7:30 a.m. Players enjoyed the friendly yet competitive round, with plenty of smiles and sportsmanship on display. JGC emerged as the winner with a final score of 8 points to RSGC’s 4.
A short prize presentation was held at 12:30 p.m., which included a friendly exchange of shirts between both captains and a plaque presentation to mark the occasion. The formalities gave way to a relaxed afternoon of makan-makan and karaoke, where laughter, music, and good food brought both clubs even closer. It was a cheerful and fitting end to a meaningful day, indeed.
The golf didn’t stop there—many RSGC Members extended their trip with social rounds at Royale Jakarta Golf Club and other courses around the city. Some even took the chance to play further afield, including at Parahyangan Golf Club in Bandung and Riverside Golf Club.
The Jakarta Interclub is more than just a match—it’s a great way to experience different courses, enjoy good company, and build lasting friendships. We encourage Members to consider joining next year’s visit and be part of this enjoyable golfing tradition!
