First played in 1924, the Guillemard Cup is one of RSGC’s oldest and most prestigious competitions. Open to members with a Handicap Index of 15.8 and below, the Guillemard Cup has long been a benchmark of skill and tradition within the Club. The inaugural edition in 1924 was won by C.R. Thurstan, etching his name into RSGC history.
The Qualifying Round for the 2025 Guillemard Cup took place on Sunday morning, 10 August 2025, over the Old Course in an 18-hole stroke play format. A total of 42 RSGC Members competed, each aiming to secure one of the coveted 16 spots in the Match Play stage.
In line with the Rules of Competition, the top 16 nett scores advanced to Match Play. Any ties for the final qualifying places were resolved by a gross count-back, as stipulated in the Club’s General ByeLaws.

With the field now set, these players will proceed to the Match Play rounds — each hoping to carve their name into the long and distinguished history of the Guillemard Cup.
