After a one-year break in 2024, the Piala Junus Sudin returned in 2025, bringing together the ladies of The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) and Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) for a day of camaraderie and spirited golf.
This annual interclub match is steeped in tradition and was contested over two legs. The first took place away at KGNS, while the second was played on home ground at RSGC.
AWAY MATCH AT KGNS — FRIDAY, 19 SEPTEMBER 2025
The away leg was played on the Putra Course, where KGNS welcomed RSGC with their trademark hospitality. The day began with breakfast and registration at the Golfers’ Terrace, followed by a group photo at the Practice Green. Tee-off commenced at 7.42 am with a shotgun start from both the first and tenth tees. The format, FourBall Best Ball (Stableford), kept the competition lively and engaging.
Highlights included strong pairings on both sides. Alyah Tan and Anisah Khadar shone as RSGC’s Best Pair, while Leong Sau Wah, Chong Ah Lan, and Janice took home the Best Pair honours for the host club.
In the end, KGNS held the advantage on home turf, winning 365 to 336. As KGNS Lady Captain Fauziah Badry remarked with a smile, “Whether your putts dropped or lipped out, the real winners are the friendships we keep building along the way.
HOME MATCH AT RSGC — FRIDAY, 26 SEPTEMBER 2025
The return leg took place a week later on the Old Course at RSGC. A total of 46 lady golfers, 23 from each club, teed it up in a testament to the strong ties between the two clubs.
After breakfast and a group photo at the Putting Green, play began at 8.04 am in Four-Ball Matchplay format. This time, the home advantage swung to RSGC. The ladies in yellow delivered a superb performance, winning 16–4 against their visitors.
At the prize presentation luncheon in The Banquet Hall, RSGC Lady Golf Captain Stella Chau expressed her gratitude to all participants. She highlighted how meaningful the victory was, especially as it marked her first interclub win since taking up the captaincy, and commended the ladies for their wonderful spirit and support.
The return of the Piala Junus Sudin was more than just about golf scores. It was a celebration of friendship, sportsmanship, and shared memories. Congratulations to the RSGC Ladies for their home victory, and heartfelt thanks to KGNS for their gracious hospitality.
With the success of this year’s matches, anticipation is already building for the 2026 edition, which promises to carry forward the legacy of this cherished tradition.
