Quadrangular 2025: A Triumph in Da Nang

The spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition was once again on full display at the Quadrangular Golf Tournament 2025, hosted this year by the Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC). This prestigious event brought together four of Asia’s most distinguished golf institutions — The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC), The Royal Bangkok Sports Club (RBSC), The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) and Hong Kong Golf Club, for two days of exceptional golf, fellowship, and hospitality in the picturesque coastal city of Da Nang, Vietnam.

Participants arrived on 7 October 2025 and were warmly welcomed at the Pullman Da Nang Beach Resort, where the hosts graciously held a Welcome Dinner overlooking the tranquil shores of My Khe Beach. The evening set a beautiful tone, featuring a vibrant lion dance and a captivating line-up of traditional Vietnamese performances.

A symbolic gift exchange among the captains of the four clubs took place during dinner. A longstanding tradition that reflects the mutual respect and enduring friendships shared among the participating clubs.

RSGC was proudly represented by a 26-strong contingent comprising members and officials who embodied the Club’s tradition of excellence, sportsmanship, and fellowship.

DAY 1 — BA NA HILLS GOLF CLUB (8 OCTOBER 2025)

The first day of play commenced at the spectacular Ba Na Hills Golf Club, a course renowned for its panoramic mountain views and the challenging design by Luke Donald. Blessed with clear skies, players enjoyed immaculate fairways and fast, undulating greens framed by the lush natural beauty of central Vietnam.

Before teeing off, participants were treated to a lively, energetic dance performance by the Ba Na Hills caddies. A delightful surprise that added charm and cheer to the day. Their enthusiasm set a buoyant tone for the round.

By the end of Day 1, The Royal Selangor Golf Club held a slim 5-point lead over The Royal Bangkok Sports Club.

DAY 2 — HOIANA SHORES GOLF CLUB (9 OCTOBER 2025)

The second day unfolded at the breathtaking Hoiana Shores Golf Club, an award-winning links course set along the South China Sea. In contrast to the previous day’s sunshine, players faced rainy and blustery condition. A true test of perseverance, adaptability, and composure.

Despite the challenges, the teams demonstrated admirable resilience, navigating the intermittent showers and coastal winds with determination. The day highlighted the grit and competitive spirit that have long defined this tournament.

RSGC’S HISTORIC VICTORY

After two days of intense yet friendly competition, The Royal Selangor Golf Club emerged as the Overall Team Champion, edging out RBSC with a final tally of 1,025 points to 965 points.

This victory marks RSGC’s first-ever triumph since the Quadrangular’s inauguration in 2004, and a remarkable leap from the Club’s second-place finish in the 2023 edition held in Bangkok.

The long-awaited win was celebrated with pride, joy, and deep camaraderie — a meaningful milestone reflecting years of teamwork, dedication, and unwavering pursuit of excellence.

At the prize-giving ceremony, HKGC formally passed the chairmanship to The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC), who will host the next Quadrangular in 2027, continuing this cherished tradition of friendship and sporting unity

A MEMORABLE STAY IN DA NANG

Throughout the tournament, RSGC Members enjoyed a comfortable stay at the Crowne Plaza Da Nang (7–10 October). The hotel’s welcoming hospitality and beachfront setting provided the perfect retreat after each day of play, with coffee houses, bars, and a casino conveniently within walking distance.

While most members returned home on the 10th, some extended their stay to further explore Da Nang’s irresistible charm — its pristine beaches, vibrant food culture, rich heritage, and warm local hospitality.

As the 2025 edition concluded, heartfelt appreciation was extended to Hong Kong Golf Club for their impeccable organisation and gracious hospitality. Their efforts ensured that the Quadrangular 2025 will be remembered not only for its sporting excellence but also for its spirit of unity and enduring fellowship.

RSGC looks forward with anticipation to reuniting with its esteemed counterparts at the next Quadrangular in 2027, as this time-honoured event continues to celebrate the finest traditions of golf and camaraderie.
