I had the opportunity this year to accompany our ladies to Hong Kong for the 28th Ladies Triangular Interport 2025, an annual friendly tournament between The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC), The Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC) and The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC).
Last year, RSGC hosted the event; this year was HKGC’s turn, and next year it will be SICC’s.
The Triangular began in 1997, founded by Linda Lim (RSGC), Nancy Clayton (HKGC) and Linda Cheng (SICC) during Linda Lim’s term as RSGC Lady Golf Captain. The inaugural edition was held at HKGC, where RSGC proudly claimed the first title.
Under Lady Golf Captain Stella Chau, 24 RSGC ladies participated in this year’s Triangular Interport Match. The team travelled on two separate flights — Cathay Pacific and Malaysia Airlines. It was a heartwarming moment when the Cathay group opened the RSGC flag to welcome the Malaysia Airlines group, who arrived an hour later. A beautiful show of team spirit from the start.
Upon arrival, everyone travelled together to the official hotel. The rest of the day was free and easy. Some rested early, while others explored Hong Kong’s famous food scene (and yes, Hong Kong really is a food heaven!).
The next morning began with heavy rain, but fortunately it stopped about half an hour into play. The ladies were warmly welcomed by HKGC, and that evening’s “80’s Extravaganza” Welcome Dinner was a vibrant night of sparkles, laughter and dancing among the RSGC, HKGC and SICC ladies.
During the social match, our ladies wore mint green shirts — a fresh and fitting colour thoughtfully chosen by our Lady Golf Captain, Stella. It looked beautifully RSGC!
Although RSGC didn’t win this year (HKGC 331 points, SICC 282 points, RSGC 261 points), the tournament was filled with fun, teamwork and friendship.
Day 2 Social Game winners:
• Winners (87 points): Lillian Wong (HKGC), Priscilla Yeoh (RSGC) & Addy Mak (HKGC)
• 1st Runners-up (86 points): Miki Lisle (HKGC), Goh Siew Bee (RSGC) & Oh Chew Khoon (SICC)
• 2nd Runners-up (83 points): Kristal Lee (HKGC), Lilian Liew (RSGC) & Michelle Siow (SICC)
RSGC novelty prizes:
• Nearest the Pin (Hole 13): Lilian Liew
• Nearest the Pin (Hole 17): Connie Tan San
• Longest Drive (Hole 3): Wong Ai-Dee
This trip was made even more meaningful with the presence of five past Lady Golf Captains — including Linda Lim, one of the founders of the Triangular — as well as Zuraidah Ismail, Rosie Dewal, Yasmin Yusuff, and Ai-Leen Tan.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to the Ladies Golf Section Working Group for their invaluable guidance and unwavering support to the Sports Office behind the scenes — always deeply appreciated.
Special thanks to The Hong Kong Golf Club for their warm hospitality (and amazing food!) and to the staff from HKGC and SICC — it was wonderful working together, and everyone truly made it feel like home.
As our Lady Golf Captain Stella Chau perfectly said:
“Happy to know everyone is safely home. Thank you all for giving your best and showing great team spirit. We may not have won, but we gained memories and friendship.
It was truly wonderful to witness our ladies’ teamwork and spirit at this year’s Triangular Interport Match.
We look forward to seeing everyone again at next year’s Triangular at SICC!
