The Piala Dato’ Hussein Onn was contested on Saturday, 6 December 2025, on the Old Course, with the field teeing off early from 7.24 AM. First played in 1979, this annual competition remains a well-regarded fixture on the Club calendar.
A total of 50 players took part in the 18-hole Par/Bogey (Strokeplay) event. The competition was open to Players with a maximum WHS Handicap Index of 21.3, with those above the limit required to play off 21.3. The course presented a good test on the day, rewarding steady play and smart course management.
Casey Ng produced a composed and consistent performance to finish top of the leaderboard with a score of +6. He was followed by Danny Chong in second place on +3. Razman Mohd Ariff secured third place on +2, edging out Liew Kim Seng, who finished fourth on the same score after OCB, in a closely contested field.
When asked how it felt to win the Piala Dato’ Hussein Onn, Casey shared:
“It’s an honour to win a trophy like this. The course had been playing really different over the past month, so I tried to prepare for those conditions. I focused on keeping the ball in play, especially off the tee, and managing the course rather than forcing anything. Thankfully, that worked out on the day. I also have to give credit to my playing partners, being comfortable playing with them helped me relax and play my game, and it definitely played a part in the win.”
The round ended in a friendly and sporting atmosphere, with Players catching up and exchanging congratulations — a fitting end to another edition of this long-standing Club competition. Congratulations, Casey!
