The RSGC Senior Golfers’ Championship remains an important fixture on the Club’s competitive calendar, providing senior members with the opportunity to compete under Championship conditions. The 2026 edition was contested over two days of stroke play on Saturday and Sunday, 3 and 4 January 2026, on the Old Course (First Nine Old / Second Nine Old) from the White Tees, with 28 players taking part.
The Championship was open to Male Members aged 55 years and above with a valid WHS Handicap Index of 21.1 and below at the close of entries. Members with higher handicaps were required to play off the maximum index of 21.1. The competitor who returned the lowest aggregate gross score over 36 holes was declared Champion, with prizes also awarded to the Runner-up and Best Nett competitor.
After two rounds of competitive play, Mazeed Abdul Wahab emerged as the Senior Champion 2026 with an aggregate score of 147 gross. He finished ahead of Wan Azfar (159 gross), while Tew Chit Beng claimed the Best Nett prize with 141 nett. Having just turned 55 this year, this was Mazeed’s first appearance in the Senior Golfers’ Championship — and he made an immediate impact by claiming the title on debut. Rounding out the top five were Ichiro Suzuki in third place on 160 gross, Tunku Johanez in fourth with 163 gross, and Azlin Khalid in fifth on 166 gross, reflecting the strong depth of competition throughout the Championship.
We caught up with Mazeed Abdul Wahab to reflect on his journey through the Championship and hear his thoughts on what the win means to him.
RSGC SENIOR GOLFERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP 2026 CHAMPION – MAZEED ABDUL WAHAB Winning the Senior Club Championship for the first time is special — what does it mean to you?
Playing my first senior club championship I did not have any expectations. Winning it was really a wonderful surprise and a great result to start 2026. Given the wet weather conditions it was very important to keep the ball in the fairway to shoot a good score. Kudos to the organisers for setting up the course nicely and applying the appropriate local rule to ensure that the tournament was very fair for competition.
Congratulations to Mazeed Abdul Wahab on his well-deserved win at the RSGC Senior Golfers’ Championship 2026, and well done to all players!
