The foursomes format remains one of the most exciting team competitions in golf, where two players form a partnership and alternate shots using a single ball until each hole is completed. Often featured in major team events such as the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup and Solheim Cup, foursomes is a true test of teamwork, trust and composure. It challenges partners not only to play well individually, but also to understand each other’s strengths and perform together under match play conditions. This year, 48 players forming 24 pairs took part in the competition, which began on 1 November 2025.
First introduced at RSGC in 1920, the Men’s Annual Foursomes has since become a signature event on the Club calendar. The competition is decided through a knockout foursomes match play format played over 18 holes, where pairs battle through each round for a place in the final.
The 2025 edition was open to all Male Members with a valid WHS Handicap Index of 21.1 and below as at 27 October 2025. Matches were played on the East Course (First Nine Old / Second Nine New), with the tournament progressing through several knockout stages. The opening round began on 1 November 2025, followed by the second round by 15 November 2025, the quarter-finals by 13 December 2025, the semi-finals by 27 December 2025, and the final concluded by 24 January 2026.
