The Consolation Cup continues to be a cherished fixture on the Club’s competitive calendar, offering members a meaningful opportunity to compete in a dedicated stroke play event. Open to male members who have not won a Monthly Medal (A/B/C Medal) in the previous calendar year, the tournament provides an ideal platform for spirited competition.
2026 Edition Highlights Held on Saturday, 24 January 2026, the event took place over 18 holes on the New Course (1st New / 2nd New). Participants were male members with a WHS Handicap Index of 15.8 and below who had not secured any victories in the preceding year.
After a fiercely contested round, Mustapha Hussain emerged as Consolation Cup Champion 2026, carding an impressive 68 nett. Runner-up Julien Hodson-Walker finished with 71 nett, while Mustapha also recorded the Best Nett score of 76, capping a stellar performance on the day.
“To be honest, my game leading into this tournament wasn’t great. So I just kept things super simple and safe, ‘Just find fairways’ was the only swing thought of the day. Thankfully I putted great and with a little sprinkle of luck, I ended up with a decent score and managed to get on a Board for the first time!” —Mustapha Hussain
Congratulations to All Participants A big congratulations to Mustapha Hussain on earning his place on the Board, and well done to all members who embraced the challenge and showcased their competitive spirit in this year’s Consolation Cup.
