Wishing Upon RSGC 2025: A Christmas of Fulfilled Dreams

As the festive season wrapped The Royal Selangor Golf Club in warmth and light, Wishing Upon RSGC 2025 returned as a heartfelt reminder of what Christmas truly represents: compassion, generosity, and the joy of giving.

More than a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, this meaningful project brought together Members and staff in a collective effort to fulfil the wishes of children from three homes: Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association, Rumah Charis – Home For The Children, and The Pure Life Society (Shuddha Samajam).

FULFILLING 108 WISHES

At the heart of the initiative were 108 individual wishes from children across the three homes.

These wishes were carefully compiled with the support of the homes’ caretakers, who worked closely with us to ensure that each child’s request was accurately captured and thoughtfully listed.

Each wish was presented through specially designed cards by our DTP Artist Hafidz, bearing the child’s name and their heartfelt request, ranging from school essentials and books to toys, clothing, and personal items

Members and staff were invited to select a wish and personally fulfil it. The response was overwhelming, with every single wish fulfilled, a true reflection of the kindness and unity within the Club.

A COMMUNITY THAT GAVE BEYOND EXPECTATIONS

What truly set Wishing Upon RSGC 2025 apart was the generosity demonstrated by our Members and staff.

A total of 108 gifts were fulfilled, made possible through the collective efforts of more than 30 donors, many of whom contributed multiple gifts.

Several Members stepped forward to fulfil numerous wishes, accelerating the completion of the wishlist and ensuring that every child was included. We would like to extend special appreciation to key contributors who fulfilled multiple wishes, including Elaine Tan (16), Jasmine Chee (14), Cherrie Sim (10), Evelyn Tew (6), Dian Azura (5), and Alison Cheok, Bradley Lim, Lim Tiong Huai, Loh Yuen Guen, May Ho, and Patrick Cheok (4 each), whose generosity made a significant impact.

A number of wishes that were initially perceived as more challenging, including highervalue items such as luggage, smart watches, sports equipment, and branded apparel, were also fulfilled through the generosity of our donors. This reflected a shared commitment to ensure that no child was left out.

Behind the scenes, the success of this initiative was driven by the Marcom team, who managed the extensive coordination required. Handling 108 individual gifts involved tracking wish cards, managing inventories, and coordinating collection and distribution. Special appreciation goes to Afizan and Amirul Faiz for their invaluable support in ensuring that every item was accounted for and prepared in time.

Preparations for the festive treats were also carried out with great care, from sourcing the candies to packing them late into the night, ensuring that every detail was thoughtfully prepared for the children.

The Sports Department’s participation further reflected the spirit of unity across the Club, reinforcing that this initiative was a shared effort embraced by the entire RSGC community.

Every gift, regardless of its size or value, carried the same purpose, to bring joy to a child during the festive season. The full list of donors is featured in the Thank You Page for this event.

THE CHRISTMAS WISHLIST PARTY

The initiative culminated in a heartwarming Christmas Wishlist Party on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, at the Banquet Hall. The afternoon was filled with laughter and festive cheer as the children enjoyed a vibrant and engaging celebration.

To ensure a smooth and safe experience, transportation was arranged for the children to and from the Club, providing convenience and peace of mind for the homes and caretakers.

Guests were treated to a delightful high tea buffet, complemented by popcorn, ice cream, a chocolate fountain, and cotton candy. Activities such as sand art and face painting, together with a balloonist, kept the children entertained throughout the event.

The programme featured dance performances, interactive games, and a captivating magic show, leading up to the highlight of the day, the appearance of Santa Claus. The gift presentation brought smiles and excitement as each child received their specially selected gift.

The celebration concluded with a group photo session and a ucky draw, bringing the event to a meaningful close.

IN REFLECTION

Wishing Upon RSGC 2025 was more than a CSR initiative. It was a celebration of kindness, unity, and the true spirit of giving.

The joy reflected in the children’s smiles serves as a reminder that even the simplest acts of generosity can make a lasting difference.

On behalf of the Club, I extend my deepest appreciation to all who contributed. Together, we have not only fulfilled wishes, but also shared hope, warmth, and the true essence of the festive season.
