The Royal Selangor Golf Club welcomed the festive season with its annual Chinese New Year Open House, held on Friday, 27 February 2026 at the Main Lounge. The event brought together Members and their immediate families for an evening of celebration, tradition, and togetherness in honour of the Lunar New Year.
Ushering in the Year of the Horse, a symbol of strength, vitality, and perseverance in the Chinese zodiac, the celebration reflected a spirit of progress, resilience, and renewed energy for the year ahead.
The celebration was well attended by Members and their families, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the evening. Guests were greeted with festive décor and a warm ambience that reflected the spirit of the occasion.
The evening commenced with an opening speech by Vice Captain David Mah, followed by a welcome address by Captain Raymond Yeoh. A highlight of the programme was the traditional Yee Sang tossing ceremony, where Members gathered to partake in this symbolic act of prosperity, unity, and good fortune for the year ahead.
Dinner was then served, featuring a specially curated buffet spread in conjunction with the celebration. Members enjoyed a variety of festive favourites, complemented by live instrumental music performed by Eswest Music & Arts Sdn Bhd, which added a refined and enjoyable backdrop to the evening.
Adding to the cultural richness of the celebration was the lion dance performance by Tarian Singa Kok Ngai, which began at the Main Lounge entrance and made its way towards the stage. The energetic and symbolic performance was well received, bringing excitement and auspicious blessings to all present.
The evening continued with live music performances, allowing Members to unwind and enjoy the festive spirit in a relaxed and convivial setting. The celebration concluded on a high note, marking a successful and memorable gathering for all in attendance.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, 23 February 2026, the Club also hosted an acrobatic lion dance at the Main Porch. The programme included the arrival of the lion dance troupe accompanied by drum rolls, a procession to the Datuk Kong temple, followed by an acrobatic lion dance performance and firecrackers. The ceremony concluded with the Management receiving the lion’s blessing, followed by a clubhouse blessing ceremony, symbolising prosperity and good fortune for the Club.
Overall, the Chinese New Year celebrations were well received, with Members enjoying both the festive offerings and the opportunity to gather in celebration, ushering in the Year of the Horse with optimism and unity.
