January and February saw our club actively hosting visiting clubs from the region, as friends from Korea and Japan travelled to Malaysia during their winter season. These visits continue to play an important role in strengthening interclub ties through both competition and camaraderie.
We have welcomed our friends from Seoul Hanyang Country Club (SHCC) for a friendly match held from 20 to 21 January 2026. The two-day visit brought together members from both clubs for a practice round followed by a Four Ball Better Ball Match Play on the East Course.
Seoul Hanyang Country Club is a well-established 18-hole course located in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. With over 50 years of history, it is regarded as one of the country’s classic layouts. Surrounded by natural forest, the course features a relatively shorter design with gentle elevation changes, favouring players with a strong short game.
The visit began on Tuesday, 20 January 2026 with a practice round. SHCC members arrived early in the morning and were received with a running breakfast at the Green, followed by a group photo session at the Golfers Terrace. Play commenced at 8.04 am with a two tee start on the East Course, before concluding with lunch at the Green.
The friendly match took place the following day on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, with 12 RSGC members taking part alongside the visiting team. Played in the Four Ball Better Ball Match Play format, the round was competitive yet relaxed, reflecting the spirit of interclub golf.
RSGC secured the win with a total of 8 points against SHCC’s 4 points. The event concluded with a lunch and prize presentation at the Green, where members from both clubs gathered to close the two day programme on a warm note.
RSGC looks forward to the return visit to Seoul Hanyang Country Club and Mona Yong Pyong this coming August, as the exchange of friendly competition and camaraderie continues. Members who are interested are encouraged to sign up at the Foyer and be part of the experience!
