From 4 to 5 February 2026, The Royal Selangor Golf Club hosted 13 members from Ryugasaki Country Club (RCC), with 12 RSGC members taking part in the twoday programme. The visit forms part of the long-standing reciprocal relationship between both clubs, which began in 2013 following the recommendation of RSGC Member Ichiro Suzuki. Since the first Interclub Friendly Match in 2015, the exchange has continued to grow as a valued tradition.
Ryugasaki Country Club is an 18-hole par 72 course regarded among the top-class golf courses in Japan. Designed by renowned golf course architect Sei-ichi Inoue, it is consistently ranked among the top courses in the country by leading golf publications.
The programme began on Wednesday, 4 February 2026 with a practice round on the Old Course (1st Old / 2nd Old). RCC members were received in the early morning with a running breakfast at The Green, followed by a group photo session at the Golfer’s Terrace. Play commenced at 8.04 am with a twopoint start, before concluding with lunch at The Green.
The friendly match took place the following day on Thursday, 5 February 2026, played in the Four Ball Better Ball Match Play format. The round was competitive yet relaxed, reflecting the strong relationship built between both clubs over the years. The event concluded with a lunch and prize presentation at The Green, where RSGC Vice Captain David Mah delivered a speech to mark the occasion.
Special appreciation is extended to the Lady Golf Captain Stella Chau and six Ladies Golf Section Working Group Members for hosting the visiting ladies from Ryugasaki Country Club, who also enjoyed social rounds during their visit.
At the end of the match, RSGC secured the win with a total of 7 points against RCC’s 1 point.
Looking ahead, RSGC will be visiting Ryugasaki Country Club on 19 and 20 November 2026, followed by a visit to Hakone Country Club. Members are encouraged to take part in the upcoming trip and not to miss the opportunity to join when the sign-up sheet is released at the Foyer.
