The 11th RSGC Junior Invitational Golf Championship (JIGC) 2026 not only showcased the talents of 91 junior golfers from 12 countries but also attracted significant attention from media organisations across Malaysia, further strengthening the championship’s reputation as one of the region’s leading junior golf tournaments.
The championship itself brought together competitors from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia and the United States. The strong international participation reinforced the tournament’s standing as an important platform for junior golf development within the region.
MEDIA TEE-OFF AT RSGC
As part of the Club’s communications and publicity efforts, a comprehensive media engagement programme was implemented to promote the championship and highlight RSGC’s commitment to junior golf development. The programme commenced on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, with invited media representatives enjoying a morning round of golf at RSGC before attending the official Press Conference held at The Green.
The golf session provided members of the media with an opportunity to experience the Club’s renowned golf course and facilities firsthand while interacting with Club representatives and tournament organisers in a relaxed setting before attending the official Press Conference later that afternoon.

The programme continued at The Green, where media representatives were briefed on the upcoming championship, participating countries, tournament objectives and the special opportunity for qualifying Malaysian players to compete in the Taiwan Youth Junior Championship 2026.

PRIZE-GIVING PRESENTATION & LUNCH
The media engagement programme continued throughout the tournament, culminating in the Prize-Giving Presentation and Lunch held on Thursday, 14 May 2026 at the Club’s Banquet Hall. Members of the media were invited to witness the conclusion of the championship, meet the winners and report on the tournament’s key highlights, generating valuable post-event coverage and further extending the championship’s reach.

The presence of media representatives at both the Press Conference and PrizeGiving Presentation ensured consistent coverage throughout the championship period, from the official launch through to the crowning of the champions.
JIGC IN THE NEWS
Media coverage focused on several key storylines throughout the championship. Particular attention was given to Malaysia’s Joshua Lim, who successfully defended the Boys Under 18 title following a dramatic play-off victory over Singapore’s Reyes Halim. Singapore’s Chloe Ng also attracted significant media attention after claiming the Girls Under 18 title. Another memorable highlight was the recording of three hole-in-ones during the championship, a rare achievement that generated additional interest among both media representatives and golf enthusiasts.
The championship received extensive coverage across broadcast, print, online and social media platforms. Broadcast exposure was secured through RTM, Astro Arena and Astro Stadium, while print and online coverage appeared in publications and platforms including Utusan Malaysia, Kosmo!, The Star, Suara Merdeka, Wilayahku, GengGolf and Bob Travelog.
