More Than Rules. A Reflection of Who We Are.
The Royal Selangor Golf Club has long upheld a Zero Tolerance stance against swearing, threats, abusive behaviour, violence and any conduct that undermines the safety, dignity and well-being of Members, employees, service providers and guests.
More recently, The Committee reinforced this commitment through its reminder on the Enforcement of Standards of Conduct, reaffirming that courtesy, mutual respect and personal responsibility remain fundamental to the culture, traditions and standards that have long defined The Royal Selangor Golf Club.
As one of Malaysia’s oldest and most distinguished golf clubs, RSGC has earned its reputation not only through its championship golf courses, rich heritage and beautiful surroundings, but also through the conduct and character of its Members.
The standards that define our Club are reflected in the way we interact with one another.
The way we greet fellow Members.
The respect we extend to our guests.
The courtesy we show our employees, service providers and everyone who contributes to the daily operation of the Club.
These everyday interactions create the welcoming and gracious environment that Members have come to value and expect.
The Committee also recognised that, from time to time, Members may encounter delays or operational challenges in the delivery of services. Such situations can arise in any organisation. What distinguishes RSGC is not the absence of challenges, but the manner in which we respond to them—with patience, understanding and mutual respect.

These qualities strengthen the culture of our Club and reflect the standards expected of every Member.
Courtesy is often demonstrated through the simplest of gestures—a warm greeting, a patient conversation during busy periods, a sincere word of appreciation, or simply treating every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of their role within the Club. While these moments may appear insignificant on their own, collectively they shape the experience of belonging to RSGC.
The same philosophy extends to how we present ourselves.
Our dress code is not merely a set of rules governing attire. It reflects the traditions, identity and character of RSGC. By dressing appropriately, Members demonstrate respect not only for the Club, but also for fellow Members, guests and the heritage that has been carefully preserved for more than a century.
Likewise, the Club’s Zero Tolerance stance and the enforcement of its Bye-Laws are not intended merely as disciplinary measures. They exist to safeguard an environment where every individual—Member, guest, employee and service provider— is treated with fairness, dignity “The true measure of a Club is not only the standard of its facilities, but the standard of conduct demonstrated by those who call it home.” and respect. The Committee’s commitment to enforcing these standards reflects its responsibility to preserve the values upon which the Club has long been built.
Ultimately, the standards of RSGC cannot be maintained by Bye-Laws alone.
They are upheld by the choices each of us makes every day.
