The journey of camaraderie and sportsmanship continues as RSGC Members embark on a memorable visit to the Nara International Golf Club (Nara). For many, including myself, returning to Nara for the second time is a testament to the allure of this beautiful destination. The course, with its stunning vistas and cool, breezy weather, provides the perfect backdrop for an enjoyable day of golf, offering our members an unforgettable experience.

Our journey from Kyoto to Nara was not just about golf; it was an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the rich culture and natural beauty of this historic city. Before teeing off at Nara International Golf Club, we took the time to visit the renowned Nara Deer Park, where friendly deers roam freely and even bow back if greeted with a bow. After a refreshing encounter with nature, we rested at the welcoming Daiwa Roynet Nara, rejuvenating ourselves for the days ahead on the golf course.

Nara, with its delectable cuisine, immaculate courses, and warm hospitality, truly captured our hearts. It felt like reuniting with an old friend – familiar, comforting, and welcoming. The reciprocal relationship between RSGC and Nara established on 24 November 2015, has flourished over the years, thanks in large part to the efforts of Joji Matsu. Matsu’s introduction of Nara to RSGC management in December 2013 paved the way for a lasting partnership, for which we are immensely grateful.
The Prize Presentation Ceremony was indeed enjoyable and memorable
23 and 24 April 2024 marked a significant highlight in our golfing calendar, which is the Interclub Friendly Match with Nara International Golf Club Japan. This event not only fostered friendly competition but also strengthened the bond between our clubs, emphasising the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship that defines our relationship.
Cheers to a fantastic game and wonderful camaraderie!

One of the most intriguing aspects of golfing at Nara is their unique format of play, known as ‘Point Tony.’ Similar to the Stableford format, ‘Point Tony’ incorporates an interesting twist – the count-back rule prioritises players based on age, adding an element of excitement to the game.

RSGC Member Mohd Ibrahimuddin emerged victorious with an impressive score of 40 points, followed closely by Tan Siew Chin and Nan Yusri both with 38 points.
Additionally, Nan Yusri showcased exceptional skill by clinching the nearest to the pin on Hole 8, while Low Kok Ang demonstrated precision with the nearest to the line on Hole 15.
As we bid farewell to Nara, we carry with us cherished memories of camaraderie, competition, and friendship. Our visit has not only strengthened the bond between both clubs but has also reinforced the enduring spirit of sportsmanship and mutual respect that define our shared love for the game of golf. Here’s to many more years of memorable moments on the greens, both in Nara and beyond.
