Piala Tunku Abdul Rahman Competition, also known as the RSGC Masters, once again captivated with three days of exceptional golf from August 2nd to 4th, 2024. This year, however, the tournament was not just about tradition—it was about breaking new ground.
Aiden Kei the Winner
Open to all members with a valid WHS Index of 16.0 and below, this stroke play event challenged participants to bring their A-game across 54 holes. The prize was awarded to the player with the lowest aggregate gross score. Still, the competition stayed fierce throughout, thanks to daily medals for the best gross and best nett scores, keeping all players engaged and competitive.
Since its inaugural tournament in 2003, the Piala Tunku Abdul Rahman has been a cornerstone of RSGC’s competitive calendar, attracting top-tier golfers. The roll call of past champions, including Ichiro Suzuki, Leroy Chiam, and Mohd Faiq Abu Sahid shows the strong level of competition in this tournament.

This year’s competition was a straightforward test of skill, held across a mix of the club’s courses. The first round was on the East Course, combining the 1st Old and 2nd New. The second day featured the West Course, with the 2nd Old and 1st New. The final round took place on the Old Course, with the 1st Old and 2nd Old.
For the first time, the RSGC Masters introduced a Ladies Edition, welcoming lady members with a WHS Index of 16.7 and below. This historic decision saw 27 men and 9 women competing over the course of the three-day event, marking a significant step forward in the club’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive golfing environment.

As we celebrate the winners of this year’s Piala Tunku Abdul Rahman Competition, we also look forward to even greater participation in the years to come. The introduction of the Ladies Edition has set a new standard, and we hope to see the RSGC Masters continue to grow as a premier event for both men and women golfers at the club.
Congratulations to all the players and winners!
