Editor’s note [Nov 2024]

We are fast approaching that time of the year where the festivities pick up pace.   At the time of writing, the decorations for Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, have already graced many parts of the RSGC with the Kolam and Rangoli patterns, comprising colourful rice, grain and sand, taking top prominence on the floor at the club’s main foyer. In just a matter of weeks, these adornments would be replaced by the colourful lights and ornaments to greet Christmas and the New Year celebrations.

This month’s issue is packed with pictures from the annual swimming GALA, the game between the Ladies Section and the club’s caddies, together with the recent outing of RSCG Members to Japan. The Oktoberfest evening was also another highlight that was well attended by members and their friends, who were all treated to an extensive Bavarian spread and music by the Joe & Seine Schurzenjager band from Germany.

Captain Raymond Yeoh talks to us about how fortunate we are as members of the RSGC after trips to our reciprocal clubs in Australia.  It is all about being thankful, particularly the privilege of the ownership of 300 acres of prime real estate smack in the middle of the capital Kuala Lumpur. And at the same time, he cautions that we need to tear away from being stagnant.

This can only be done with all of us club members coming together and being vocal in feedback and suggestions. I have personally heard  proposals for the committee to consider bringing back the cherished flag-raising ceremony and its lowering at sunset together with the national anthem Negaraku.

Please reach out and I am offering to be your communicator. My personal email is ljudelopez@gmail.com and all messages will be confidential. I will convey the gist of the missives to Capt. Yeoh. Trust me, he and his committee want to hear from all of you.
