Lady Golf Captain’s Corner

Dear Ladies, Warm greetings to all Members and welcome once again to our latest Ladies’ Golf Section update. As we move further into the golfing calendar, it has been truly encouraging to witness the continued participation, friendship, and enthusiasm shared among our lady golfers across all age groups and playing levels. From competitive tournaments to social bonding activities, the spirit within our Ladies’ section continues to grow stronger and more inclusive.

April was filled with memorable moments, beginning with the Puan Sri Lee Eng Ling Trophy held on 19 April 2026 at the Old Course. The event saw excellent participation and competitive play among Members. Congratulations to Mari Yasumoto (H’cap 19) and Kanae Yutani (H’cap 18), who emerged as Best Pair on OCB with a nett score of 68. The Runner-Up position also finished on 68 nett OCB and was secured by Chloe Yong (H’cap 19) and Esther Law (H’cap 21). The tournament once again reflected the strong camaraderie and sporting spirit shared among our lady golfers.

The month of May also featured the Ladies’ Medal competition, which simultaneously served as the qualifying round for the Selangor Cup tournament held at The Royal Selangor Golf Club. The event was played in stroke play nett format at the Old Course, with the top 16 nett scores successfully qualifying for the upcoming match play rounds of the tournament. Congratulations to all qualifiers, and we wish them the very best in the next stage of the competition.

A special highlight during the qualifying round was the remarkable achievement by Elaine Liew, who recorded her second Hole-in-One at the Old Course 17th Hole — impressively, at the very same hole where she previously achieved her first ace. Elaine accomplished the feat using a 9-iron, witnessed by her flightmates Yun Ting and May Ho. Congratulations to Elaine on this wonderful milestone.

Beyond competitions, the Ladies’ section continues to place great emphasis on friendship, participation, and creating meaningful experiences for Members. One of the recent highlights was the inaugural ACES mixed social event involving both the ACES Group gentlemen and lady golfers. The friendly 9-hole mini tournament brought together players from Team Chiang Mai and Team Bangkok in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere focused on camaraderie and connection across generations of golfers.

The event received an overwhelmingly positive response, attracting a total of 48 players comprising 24 ladies and 24 gentlemen golfers. It was especially heartwarming to see senior Members, long-time golfers, and newer participants enjoying the occasion together both on and off the course. The evening concluded with dinner and fellowship at The Green, further strengthening friendships within the Club community.

Following the success of the ACES event, discussions are already underway for future collaborative social games, including the upcoming Piala Bakiam friendly event scheduled to be held on 12 July 2026. These initiatives continue to reflect the Ladies’ Golf Section’s commitment towards creating opportunities that are welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable for golfers of all backgrounds and generations.

As always, thank you to all Members, organisers, volunteers, and participants for your continuous support and encouragement. The Ladies’ Golf Section would also like to extend its sincere appreciation to the Management team of The Royal Selangor Golf Club for their continuous support and assistance towards our golfing activities and initiatives throughout the year. It is truly rewarding to see our golfing community continue to grow through both competition and friendship. We look forward to many more meaningful moments together in the months ahead.

Warm regards,
Stella Chau
