Another new year is imminent, time truly flies! By now, some of us are contemplating pledges to change, and mapping out new year resolutions. Commensurate with the close of one year and the dawn of another, we imagine that we can forge forward and successfully attain those greater heights which we aspire for. However, we still hold on to some niggling old issues, grouses with friends, falling-outs with our enemies, dissatisfaction or anger with our past failures, disappointments with our loved ones, and we still grieve for loved ones that we have lost.
For so many people searching for peace and purpose, the most debilitating source of pain has been the struggle to forgive” Oprah Winfrey
The journey to release all grudges, relinquish the quest for revenge, and to let go of the fantasy of what might have been, is one of the most spiritual challenges we face. But until and unless we give ourselves permission to let go of the past and step out of our history into the now, we will not achieve the other side of forgiveness – which is freedom. This liberation will be the force and energy that will propel you forward, enabling you to achieve those new pledges and resolutions. So do reflect on this and be mindful of letting go, before welcoming the new year.
