Editor’s note [Jan 2025]

Dear Members, Season greetings and Happy New Year.

After a very eventful 2024 with fresh elections at the club, a new committee bursting with news ideas and a fast-changing member demographic that features a growing younger set of club chargers, 2025 promises more excitement.

The resounding approval from members for fresh renovations and upgrades for our non-golf sporting facilities and the poolside despite some audible opposition is worth examining. It does suggest that the messaging efforts by the new committee to reach out to the very sizeable silent majority has paid dividends. The results at the extraordinary general meeting also underscore the clamour for change at the RSGC.

As Captain Raymond Yeoh states in his missive in this issue, the current member demographic makes it urgent that the RSGC pushes hard to attract new members and providing new facilities will be key to that drive. Please spend some time going through his dispatch.

As we enter the New Year, your editorial team hopes to begin a renewal process for The Circular. We are tinkering with changes, such as a redesign and new regular columns that will better meet your needs. The plan is to keeping altering, innovating and challenging what we now produce. We are brainstorming in small ways and your suggestions are welcome.

Once again, best wishes for 2025 from your editorial team.
