Live at the Green November introduced something completely different for Members. This time around, the CPRESC decided to present Frankie Sixes, a Swing band who have performed all over Asia. In fact it was not easy to book them and we were fortunate that they had just completed a show in China and were available for us. What made it different was that Members would be given half an hour of Swing dance lessons before the show, which is a standard part of Frankie Sixes’ shows. The event was fully booked in a matter of days with a waiting list. Our enthusiastic Members took to the dance floor to learn the dance steps from the two professional teachers Pei Ru and Raj. Great fun was had by all.
The heavy rain that evening did not dampen the spirits of those attending, and Members still came out in full force to enjoy the event. Due to the design layout of The Green, the venue could only take a limited number of attendees as the large pillars could block patrons’ view. This was explained to Members on the waiting list and we were delighted that they were understanding and agreeable enough to be seated on high cocktail tables towards the rear of the venue, whilst still fully able to enjoy the show.
As the night progressed, the live band took the stage, and the music kept everyone ‘swinging’. Many Members continued to dance during the performance, some on the main dance floor, while others joined near their tables, contributing to a lively atmosphere. As had become standard practice, free pizzas were served during the band’s break and the popcorn machine was kept busy all night.
Live At The Green with The Frankie Sixes was a roaring success, filled with great music, dancing, and camaraderie. It has taken some time but we are thrilled that Live At The Green, which began in early 2023, has finally taken off as more and more Members experience or hear of this bimonthly event at the club, the one and only club event offering a lively bar lounge atmosphere with fabulous music from notable Malaysian musicians, with the option of ordering food, and of course, free parking! The last 3 events have been on waiting list only, proof that our Members appreciate a night of good music and a great time. We are now planning our 2025 artiste list so keep a watch out for news, and book early!
