The 55th M Ramayah Cup 2025 @ Annual Caddie Golf Championship

The 55th M Ramayah Caddie Golf Championship 2025 was held on 7 March 2025. Played on the club’s prestigious East Course, this year over 75 caddies competed for the glory of being the 2025 Caddie Champion. Participants enjoyed a hearty breakfast sponsored by the club’s canteen operator.

perator. The Championship was played in a Strokeplay format, with the coveted title awarded to the player with the lowest gross score. With the greens running at 8.6 on the stimpmeter, the course presented a true test of skill, with a heavy drizzle adding more challenges. Many players found themselves battling slick surfaces and subtle breaks, making putting accuracy even more crucial.

Adding a special touch to the day, several volunteer scorers from the Ladies Golf SubCommittee led by Lady Golf Captain Ai-Leen Tan accompanied select flights to ensure everything was above board.

Despite the tricky conditions, the atmosphere remained upbeat, with plenty of smiles and sportsmanship on display throughout the day. The competition featured 3 categories – Seniors, Nett and of course the Gross Championship. Members generously sponsored prizes including trophies, cash, golf gear, and vouchers. At the prize-giving lunch held at The Rotunda, Golf & Caddie Convenor Mr. Dilsher Singh praised the caddies, saying: “Our caddies are the backbone of this club. Their knowledge of the course and their dedication to our members are second to none. Today is about honouring their contribution — not just as support staff, but as talented golfers in their own right.

Indeed our dedicated caddies have long been the unsung heroes behind the success of every round played at RSGC.

Mazlan Manaf (A0243) Crowned Caddie Champion

2025 Mazlan Manaf (A0243) delivered a composed and consistent round on the 1st Old Course to emerge as the overall champion. His achievements included 13 pars, 1 birdie, 2 bogeys, and 2 double bogeys, culminating in a superb gross score of 77.

Mazlan’s steady performance earned him the prestigious title of Caddie Champion 2025 — a well-deserved recognition for his calmness under pressure and solid play.

Here’s what he had to say: I was very lucky because I played very good. I hit my irons very good and my putting also very good. The pin positions today not very strong, just a little bit easy. The rain in the morning made it very difficult because it was foggy and soggy, and with the rain every day, we cannot play so good. This is my first win!

Runner-up: Majid Anak Ngalang (A0236)

All good, all well-prepared. It was really fun and enjoyable, and I hope next time it will be even better. The green speed was a bit slow at 8.5. I made a few three-putts, but it was okay. In the end, it was fun and it was a good time to see the other caddies and the Ladies come together with us on the course. Thank you, everyone.

Dzulkifli Zainal Abidin (A0195)

I enjoyed the game very much, the course was not easy to play but it was very nice to have the Ladies with us. The food was very good.

Defending Champion and ThreeTime Champion: Mohd Radzi Hussin (B0572)

I didn’t caddie or touch a club for a month. After a month of fasting, I straight away played in the Championship. My ball went missing at Hole 15 and I scored a triple bogey there. We had to play in the rain — not so nice, but it was still okay to play. I finished fourth gross and also won a lucky draw. Overall, I’m happy — and the lunch was very good!

Johari Aboo Backer (A0247)

During Ramadan, I only played nine holes twice and just once played 18 holes. I didn’t get to practice for this Championship. During the Championship, my ball didn’t get lost and didn’t go into the water. Even though I didn’t play well, I felt really good!

The course condition was okay, but not perfect. I liked the weather even though it rained a bit. I liked our marker, and our flightmates were all very friendly. I won a bath towel in the lucky draw, which made me very happy! Overall, it was a great experience — and the lunch was good too.

The Caddie Annual Club Championship remains one of the most cherished traditions at RSGC, reinforcing the Club’s enduring commitment to nurturing its people and celebrating those who have contributed so meaningfully to its legacy.
