Congratulations on your second championship win! How do you feel about defending your title? Thank you so much. I’m happy to have won, but I also feel a sense of responsibility. I did my best to defend my title against experienced and skilled aunties, and I think that’s why I managed to win my second title.
Were there any moments in the tournament where you felt extra pressure to perform? Absolutely. I believe every tournament has its own set of challenges, and there were definitely moments when I felt a lot of pressure. I made a few mistakes during the rounds, which naturally added to the stress while playing. In those moments, I had to remind myself to stay calm and focus on the process, not just the result. Day two, in particular, was tough. It was difficult to perform at my best, but I did try my hardest. I think attention to detail and self-management are definitely areas I need to continue improving.
How has your training and preparation changed since your first win? My approach to training has evolved quite a bit since I won my first championship. After that win, I realised I couldn’t rely on the same routine and expect to improve. I started extending my practice hours and refining the quality of my sessions. I’m now much more focused on specific areas of my game, like my short game and putting, where I felt I had the most room to grow. I’ve also been working on my mental game by staying calm under pressure, managing stress, and keeping a positive mindset. It’s not just about hitting the ball well; being mentally sharp is just as important. The combination of longer practice sessions and more targeted improvement has made a huge difference in my overall performance.
Any words of encouragement for other young female golfers looking to compete at this level? I know how much the golfers at my club love the game and the dedication they put in. Obstacles are just part of the journey, and setbacks are okay—they’re opportunities to learn and grow. The road to the top is long, but consistent effort makes the biggest difference. If you love the game and put in the work, your hard work will pay off.
What are your goals in golf moving forward? This year, my main goal is to earn World Amateur Golf Ranking points and compete at a higher level. I also aim to become the club champion at RSGC, Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC), Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, and Saujana Golf & Country Club. Beyond winning, I’m committed to continuous improvement because I truly love the sport and always strive to be better on the course.
I’ve got big dreams, and I’m ready to keep working hard to turn them into reality.
