In the spirit of community and giving, The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) hosted a special Majlis Hari Raya Bersama Anak-Anak Yatim for two homes—Rumah Titian Kasih and Rumah Penyayang Darul Ilmi Gombak. The gathering brought together 72 children and 15 caretakers, with Duit Raya also thoughtfully prepared for the 28 children who were unable to attend.
The event began with a warm welcome by Yasmin Yusuff, Convenor of the Communications, PR and Events Subcommittee. Yasmin encouraged the children and guests to enjoy the food and activities arranged for them. She shared that the Club had taken care in planning the afternoon to ensure the children had an enjoyable and memorable celebration.
Rumah Titian Kasih
Founded by Hajjah Sharifah Adlan, fondly known as Mak Pah, Rumah Titian Kasih provides care for orphans, single mothers, and the elderly. The home is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for its residents. A total of 40 children and 5 caretakers were present, with 21 Duit Raya packets entrusted to Fadilah, one of the home’s caretakers, for those who could not attend.
In an interview, Fadilah shared: “The children were so happy today. They enjoyed all the activities and many of them were actively involved throughout the event. A number of the prize winners were from our home. I’m truly thankful to RSGC for giving our children such a meaningful experience.”
On Mak Pah’s condition, she added: “She’s been facing serious health challenges due to glaucoma and was recently discharged from the hospital after a two-week stay. Please keep her in your prayers.
Rumah Penyayang Darul Ilmi Gombak
Located in Gombak, Rumah Penyayang Darul Ilmi supports orphans and underprivileged children through education and care guided by Islamic values. Led by Ustaz Wan Razmie bin Wan Othman, the home is managed by the Pertubuhan Pembangunan Kebajikan Darul Ilmi Malaysia. 32 children and 10 caretakers joined the event, while 7 Duit Raya packets were set aside for those absent.
Ustaz Razmie shared his thoughts: “Alhamdulillah, the event was enjoyable for the children. What made it special was how relaxed and welcoming everything was. The kids were free to eat, play, and just be themselves. The magic show, especially the part with the dove, had them shouting with excitement. Thank you for including us.”
Highlights from the Celebration The children arrived to a festive setting filled with colourful decorations and cheerful hosts.
They were treated to a generous Hari Raya buffet, featuring a variety of traditional dishes and food the children enjoy. The spread included Lontong, Roti Jala with Chicken Curry, Beef Rendang, Lemang, Nasi Impit, and Kuah Kacang, alongside Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken Nuggets, and sweet treats like soft ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy, and a chocolate fountain. Orange cordial was served throughout the afternoon.
A balloon artist in Baju Melayu kept the children entertained with his creative balloon designs. Nearby, sand art and henna painting stations drew steady crowds, especially the sand art, which remained a favourite right until the end. Games and competitions added to the fun, with prizes awarded to enthusiastic winners.
The magic show was a standout moment. Dressed in traditional attire, the magician performed crowd-pleasers like a levitating table, vanishing water, and the dramatic reveal of a white dove—each act drawing laughter and amazement from the children.
Adding to the occasion, two French guests who had earlier visited Rumah Penyayang Darul Ilmi Gombak accompanied the home’s group to the event. They spent time with the children and were moved by the hospitality and festive atmosphere.
As the afternoon wrapped up, Yasmin Yusuff personally distributed Duit Raya to each child, sharing a few words and smiles along the way. The event closed with a group photo of all participants— children, caretakers, organisers, and volunteers—marking a special end to a heartwarming day.
The event served as a meaningful gesture of care and connection with the children of Rumah Titian Kasih and Rumah Penyayang Darul Ilmi. It was a reminder that joy shared, especially during Raya, can leave lasting memories for all involved.
