Way to Go, Team RSGC! Seladang Cup Victory in Bangkok

The Interport Match between The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) and The Royal Bangkok Sports Club (RBSC), held on 14 and 15 June 2025, was another memorable chapter in their long-standing friendship. This annual tradition began in 1961, initiated by Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman. The Erawan Cup is played off the stick, while the Seladang Cup, introduced in 1967 by RSGC Captain Alan Jones, is played off handicap.

This year, 52 RSGC members made the trip to Bangkok with one mission—to defend both trophies. RBSC made the event even more special by lifting their usual quota of 40 players to 50 per team. Spirits were high, especially after RSGC’s home victory in May.

The match kicked off on Saturday with lunch at The Royal Pavilion, featuring fishball noodles, chicken rice, and green curry beef. After a group photo, players teed off for the Interport Matches. The rain held off until everyone finished—perfect timing. That evening, the welcome dinner brought everyone together with tiger prawns, snapper, and roasted beef on the menu.

Sunday began with breakfast at The Samosorn Sports Pavilion before the matches got underway. After a competitive morning, everyone returned for lunch and the prize presentation.

RBSC retained the Erawan Cup 29–13, but RSGC took home a sweet victory in the Seladang Cup with a 43–27 win—our first away victory in Bangkok since 2012. It may not have been a clean sweep, but bringing back a trophy was reason enough to celebrate.

Just a month after reclaiming the Tan Sri Hashim Ali Trophy in Singapore, Team RSGC did it again— this time in Bangkok, bringing home the Seladang Cup. Two countries, two trophies. Way to go, Team RSGC!
