A tradition that began over a century ago continues to inspire RSGC’s finest golfers.
The 2025 Glassford Cup was held on Saturday, 4 October, on the East Course (1st Old / 2nd New). A total of 26 players took part in this annual 18-hole stroke play event, open to male members with a WHS Handicap Index of 16.0 and below.
Known as one of the Club’s most respected competitions, the Glassford Cup consistently attracts strong participation from RSGC’s low-handicap players. The course was in excellent condition, with firm fairways and quick greens that demanded steady nerves and precise shot-making throughout the round.
Casey Ng produced a confident and consistent performance to card a 69 nett, securing the Champion title.
Syed Hazrain finished close behind with 71 nett to claim Runner-Up, while Leong Chun Yan, playing off a handicap of 1, delivered a solid 73 to win the Best Gross prize.
As always, the competition was played in a friendly and sporting spirit, with plenty of smiles and good banter among participants. After the round, players gathered to share stories and congratulate one another. A fitting end to a morning that celebrated both skill and camaraderie.
DID YOU KNOW?
The Glassford Cup is one of RSGC’s oldest trophies. It was named after John and Clem Glassford, two Scottish brothers who helped found the Club in 1893. Clem served as Club Captain for 15 years, and together the brothers played an important role in shaping RSGC’s early years.
When Clem retired from Malaya in 1909, Members honoured their contributions by commissioning the Glassford Cup. A proud and enduring part of the Club’s history to this day.
