Dear Members, 2025 has been a demanding but ultimately constructive year for RSGC. It tested the resilience of the Club, the dedication of its volunteers and the strength of our governance, while also laying important foundations for a more stable and progressive future.
The year saw a number of complex internal matters come to the fore, including whistleblowing reports involving senior employees. These issues were examined carefully, independent legal advice was obtained, and due process was followed throughout. While this period was challenging, it reinforced the importance of sound governance, clear procedures and fairness. With these matters now behind us, the Club is better positioned to move forward with renewed focus and stability.
Operational standards also came under close review, particularly in food and beverage and contractor management. Health and safety audits highlighted shortcomings that were addressed decisively. As part of this reset, the Club initiated a competitive tender for its F&B operations, attracting strong interest from nine bidders, reflecting the underlying strength and attractiveness of RSGC. A parallel exercise is underway to ensure that all contract workers engaged by the Club are properly documented and fully compliant, strengthening operational integrity and emphasizing risk management.
Despite these challenges, there were many positive developments. RSGC achieved a historic milestone by winning the Quadrangular Match against SICC, RBSC and HKGC for the first time, a proud moment that reflected the depth, spirit and camaraderie within our golfing community. We also commenced major upgrades to our poolside facilities, racquet courts and gym, with completion targeted by the third quarter of 2026. These enhancements will significantly improve the overall member experience and broaden the range of amenities available to members and their families.
The Club’s financial position remains a key source of strength. Since 2020, our cash reserves have grown by an average of RM10 million per year, and today the Club holds approximately RM411 million in reserves. As a Company Limited by Guarantee, these reserves exist solely for the collective benefit of members through better facilities and services, and cannot accrue to members individually. In line with this principle, members approved a capital programme in December 2025 that includes improvements to the Banquet Hall, Heritage Room and The Greens, the creation of a new games room in the current gym space, and a comprehensive refurbishment of the Ladies’ Main Wing Changing Room.
Additional enhancements are also in progress or planned. These include the installation of lighting along walking paths, which will be a new addition to improve safety and usability in the evenings, upgrades to all three golf course halfway huts, and infrastructure works in Car Park A to preserve parking capacity while safeguarding a mature rain tree. TrackMan simulators will be installed both in a squash court and in a covered facility at the driving range, while autonomous mowers will be introduced to improve rough conditions. External entrances will be upgraded with improved guard facilities, landscaping and access control systems, and golf course maintenance budgets have been increased to support better playability.
As we move into 2026, the Committee’s focus will be firmly on disciplined execution. Delivering these projects efficiently, minimising disruption and ensuring value for money will be key priorities. The approach will be steady and deliberate, recognising that many improvements are long overdue and that a phased, sustainable programme is preferable to shortterm fixes. Alongside capital works, continued emphasis will be placed on operational excellence, member service and maintaining a welcoming, well-run club environment.
At the December EGM, members were given a genuine opportunity to decide on the future direction of golf course upgrading, including the option to pause and reflect. Members chose that path, and the Committee fully respects this decision. Many members have since expressed their disappointment in none of the resolutions being passed. TC will deliberate options, including revisiting this matter should Members’ sentiment remain strong. In the meantime, as we resolve our contract workers issue, we will embark on a more intensive maintenance programme to address priority areas and improve playing conditions.
As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank all members for their engagement, patience and constructive feedback throughout a challenging but meaningful year. I am also deeply appreciative of the many Committee members, SubCommittee members and other volunteers who continue to give their time, energy and expertise for the benefit of the Club.
To Members who celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and enjoyed the holiday with your loved ones. To all members, may the New Year bring good health, good golf, and many enjoyable days at RSGC.
Your Captain
Raymond Yeoh
