What a weekend of golf it was! The annual Interclub Match between The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) and Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) returned on 22–23 November 2025, bringing another exciting chapter to this long-standing rivalry for the Dato’ Musa Hitam Challenge Trophy. First played in 1982, this fixture remains a favourite among members — and once again, it delivered a memorable two days of competition and camaraderie.
As tradition stands, the match was played in a home-and-away format, with both clubs fielding 50 players each, showcasing the strong enthusiasm for this Interclub Match.
DAY 1: RSGC HOSTS AND TAKES THE LEAD
The first day, Saturday, 22 November 2025, began early with the arrival of KGNS Members at 6.30 a.m., followed by registration in front of the Heritage Room and a running breakfast at the Banquet Hall. A group photo session took place at 7.20 a.m. on the Practice Green before players proceeded on foot to their respective teeing areas. Only players teeing off from the 6th Hole were transported, assembling at the Main Lobby prior to transfer, while all other groups walked to their starting tees.
The match commenced at 8.04 a.m. on the Old Course (1st Old / 2nd Old) in the Four Ball Better Ball (Match Play) format, with a fourpoint start applied across the 1st, 6th, 10th, and 15th tees.
RSGC, led by Vice Captain David Mah, put on a solid performance on home ground, ending Day 1 with 29 points against KGNS’s 21, giving RSGC a comfortable 8-point lead heading into Day 2.
DAY 2: KGNS BRINGS THE PRESSURE AT HOME
Sunday, 23 November 2025, saw players arriving at KGNS from 6.30 a.m. for breakfast and registration at the Golfer’s Terrace. A group photo session took place at 7.30 a.m. at Practice Green 1, followed by a 7.45 a.m. shotgun start on the Putra Course.
Day 2 was contested in the 4-Ball Best-Ball (Stableford) format from the easy blue tees. After the round, players submitted their scorecards at the Putra Course gazebo area before gathering for lunch at 1.00 p.m. at Dewan Presiden. The prize presentation followed at 1.30 p.m., marking the close of another spirited and friendly match.
KGNS outscored RSGC 24 to 26 on the day, narrowing the margin — but the solid lead from Day 1 ensured RSGC stayed ahead on the overall scoreboard.
A MATCH WORTH CELEBRATING
After bringing home the Seladang Cup from Bangkok, the Tan Sri Hashim Ali Trophy from Singapore, and the Quadrangular, we added yet another victory to the list — our fourth away trophy of the year, the Tan Sri Musa Hitam Challenge Trophy!
Congratulations to all RSGC players for your dedication and teamwork, and our sincere thanks to KGNS for their warm hospitality throughout the weekend (and their fantastic kambing golek! hehehe). This year’s match once again showcased the strong tradition and competitive spirit that define this Interclub rivalry — and we look forward to another exciting encounter next year.
With a final score of 55–45, RSGC proudly retains the Dato’ Musa Hitam Challenge Trophy for another year! Congrats champs!
