300 Club Trophy

On a serene Saturday morning, 15 November 2025, 54 players gathered across the 1st Old and 2nd Old tees, setting off at 7:24am for an 18-hole Stableford challenge. The air buzzed with anticipation, laughter, and the friendly rivalry that defines the RSGC 300 Club.

Since its inaugural edition in 1968, the 300 Club has stood as one of the Royal Selangor Golf Club’s most cherished traditions. Founded by passionate golfers seeking a competitive yet close-knit playing community, the event has grown into an iconic institution—uniting generations of golfers on the historic Old Course. Each edition honours this legacy, blending camaraderie, sportsmanship, and the shared love of the game.

The Old Course was in pristine condition, offering the perfect stage for competition. Players approached each hole with focus and strategic skill, embracing both the sporting and social spirit of the event. By the turn, two golfers had “turned red,” signalling exceptional performance and setting the leaderboard ablaze. Excitement built in the Clubhouse as the final groups returned and the scorecards were tallied—resulting in a tie at the top.

A brief playoff on the 1st hole determined the champion, with both Casey Ng and Leong Chun Yan showing admirable composure under pressure. After steady play, Casey Ng emerged victorious, lifting the 300 Club Trophy to the cheers of fellow members. Congratulations to Casey Ng, the 2025 300 Club Champion, and kudos to Leong Chun Yan for an outstanding performance.

Beyond the competition, the 300 Club remains a symbol of RSGC’s enduring golfing tradition. For over five decades, it has connected seasoned members and new talents, fostered friendships and celebrated the values that define the Club. Many participants reflected on the unique experience of playing the historic Old Course, sharing stories of past champions and celebrating how the event continues to evolve while preserving its heritage.

Adding prestige to the tradition, the 300 Club Trophy features a magnificent kabuto samurai headgear, donated by the esteemed Three Hundred Club of Japan, one of RSGC’s reciprocal clubs. This symbolic trophy represents the strong partnership established between both clubs following the signing of their reciprocal agreement.

The Three Hundred Club, located in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, is itself a historic and exclusive institution. Originally known as the Chigasaki Golf Course, it was modelled after the renowned Burning Tree Golf Club in Washington, DC, and maintains an elite membership capped at just 300 members.

The inaugural 300 Club Trophy competition in 1968 saw five-time Club Champion Lee Tak Suan claim victory. This year’s tournament proudly carried that legacy forward, played in the classic Stableford format over 18 holes on the Old Course.

As RSGC looks ahead to future editions, the 300 Club continues to shine as a celebration of tradition, community, and the timeless joy of golf—welcoming both veteran golfers and newcomers to be part of its enduring story.
