President’s, Captain’s & Committee’s Prizes Cap Off Busy 2025

The President’s Prize, Captain’s Prize and Committee’s Prize brought the 2025 golf season at RSGC to a close, rounding off a packed calendar that featured over a hundred competitions, including interport, interclub matches, medals as well as cup and trophy events. The competitions were played on Sunday morning, 14 December 2025, using the Stableford format over 18 holes on the Old Course.

The President’s Prize was open to Players with a WHS Handicap Index of 10.5 and below, while the Captain’s Prize catered to those with an Index of 10.6 to 15.9. The Committee’s Prize was contested by Players with a WHS Handicap Index of 16.0 to 21.3.

PRESIDENT’S PRIZE

A total of 21 players contested the President’s Prize. Casey Ng emerged as the winner with 39 points, finishing ahead of Mazeed, Farid Suhaimi, Justin Ong and Cameron Cheah, who all returned 36 points.

When asked how satisfying it was to finish the year strongly after three victories in the closing stretch of the season, Casey shared:

“The results were definitely encouraging, but a lot of it came down to understanding and respecting the conditions. With all the rain we’ve had, some parts of the course became really penal, so knowing where not to miss was important. I made a few practical adjustments, from ball flight to equipment like gloves and shoes, and focused on staying patient. It was satisfying to see that preparation pay off and finish the year on a steady note.”

CAPTAIN’S PRIZE

16 players teed it up in the Captain’s Prize, where Benjamin Simandjoentak delivered a standout performance to claim victory with an impressive 40 points. Chia King Hong and Ikmal Nizam kept the pressure on throughout the round and finished joint second, both posting 35 points.

Reflecting on his round, Benjamin pointed to patience and good company as key factors:

“The wet weather had made the course play very long. I was just trying to stay out of trouble and avoid those big numbers. Between a couple of key putts and some very kind bounces, everything just seemed to go my way. And having two playing partners who kept things light out there despite the tough conditions certainly helped.”

COMMITTEE’S PRIZE

The Committee’s Prize attracted a field of 17 players and produced another closely contested outcome. Au Wy Kean emerged on top with a winning score of 39 points. Eddie Siew claimed runner-up and OCB, while Rozhan Ghazali finished in third place, with both players returning 34 points.

Au Wy Kean marked his victory with characteristic humour, reflecting on the journey behind his improved form:

“After two years of slicing into the jungle and funding my buddies’ beer tabs, I finally swapped my swing for one that doesn’t look like a drunk octopus.”

The event was played in a friendly and sporting spirit, with competitive golf and good camaraderie throughout — a fitting way to wrap up the season. Congratulations to all three winners.

This concludes the 2025 golf season. A big thank you to the Tournament Committee, Referees, Officials and Staff for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. With hundreds of competitions delivered, it was a busy year — and one we can be proud of.
