RSGC Order of Merit Winners 2025

The RSGC Order of Merit (OOM) recognises the most consistent performers across the Club’s competitive calendar, rewarding players who accumulate points through strong performances in multiple events throughout the season. Across the Men’s, Ladies and Junior divisions, the Order of Merit reflects not only skill but also dedication, discipline and regular participation in Club competitions.

For the 2025 season, four players emerged at the top of their respective divisions — Casey Ng (Men), Ainon Aznam (Ladies), Lucas Long (Junior Boys) and Shen Ying Tong (Junior Girls). We invited each of them to share their reflections on the season, their approach to competition and what the journey meant to them.

RSGC MEN’S ORDER OF MERIT WINNER 2025 — CASEY NG

Casey Ng secured the RSGC Men’s Order of Merit title for the third consecutive year, having previously won in 2023 and 2024. His continued consistency across multiple competitions once again set him apart over the full season. We caught up with Casey to reflect on his approach, mindset and motivation throughout the year.

1. Across a full season of competitions, what do you focus on most during each round to maintain consistency?

Honestly, I focus more on decision making than swing thoughts. Picking the right target, committing to it, and staying patient. Over a full season, it’s about avoiding big numbers rather than chasing birdies every round.

2. When your game is not at its best on a given day, what adjustment do you usually rely on first?

I try to simplify everything. Fairways and greens mindset. I’ll club up, aim safer, hit iron off the tee for position and stop trying to force shots. Usually when I try to fix my swing mid round, it gets worse, so I just manage the course better.

3. Many players perform well occasionally but struggle to stay consistent. In your view, what separates consistency from good form?

Good form comes and goes. Consistency is discipline. It’s sticking to your routine, controlling emotions, and accepting that some days are just grind days. The guys who stay consistent don’t get mad after one bad hole.

4. What motivates you to keep competing at this level year after year?

I enjoy the challenge. Every season feels different, and there’s always something to improve. Competing keeps me sharp, and I like testing myself against strong fields.

5. Do you intend to challenge for the Order of Merit title again in 2026, and what advice would you share with members aiming for it?

If I am playing, I am competing, but the Order of Merit is not won through one strong month. It is built over a full season of discipline and consistency. My advice to members aiming for it is to focus on smart decision making, manage your schedule wisely, and stay patient. Over time, avoiding big mistakes and staying committed to the process makes the biggest difference.

RSGC LADIES ORDER OF MERIT WINNER 2025 — AINON AZNAM

Ainon Aznam secured the RSGC Ladies Order of Merit title in 2025, marking a notable comeback and adding to her previous victories. After more than a decade since her last Order of Merit win, her return to the top reflects experience, resilience and sustained competitiveness across the season. Ainon shares her reflections on the year and what it took to once again emerge as the Ladies Order of Merit winner.

1. Over a full season of competitions, what helped you stay consistent enough to secure the Order of Merit title?

For me, focusing on the game and enjoying myself helped me achieve consistency throughout the year. Honestly, I did not expect to win the title. However, I have been committed to practicing twice a week with my usual gang, Pauziah and Siti Zainab. They have supported me throughout the year and I’m glad to have enjoyed my time with them.

2. Was there a particular round or period that you felt defined your season?

The Leong Cup in (month). That particular tournament had not been played for 24 years. I felt overjoyed as I won that cup. During the game, everything felt like it was going my way, from my drive all the way to putting.

3. Which part of your game improved the most during the year?

I’d say my short game. I’m more confident in approaching the green. My understanding of which technique to use has helped me lower my score.

4. What kept you motivated to continue competing throughout the season?

The spirit of competition and the thought of winning are my main reasons. I put very little pressure on myself, as I believed my consistency would carry me through. Also, my family greatly supported me throughout the year.

5. What advice would you share with ladies members who hope to compete seriously for the Order of Merit?

At the start of this season, I had just recovered from a medical condition. My doctor advised me to enjoy doing the things that I love. Golfing was one of the first things that came to mind. You just have to enjoy your time in the game and don’t overthink it. Take it easy. If it’s meant to be, the title will be yours. If not, just know that nothing was wasted, as you spent your time doing something you love. Also, there’s always next year!

RSGC JUNIOR BOYS ORDER OF MERIT WINNER 2025 — LUCAS LONG

Lucas Long secured the RSGC Junior Boys Order of Merit title, successfully defending the crown he first won in 2024. His backto-back achievement reflects steady consistency throughout the season and continued growth in competition. Lucas reflects on his season and the lessons he continues to learn through golf.

1. As a junior golfer, what helped you stay consistent across many competitions this season?

I think growing up at the club helped a lot. I’ve been playing golf for as long as I can remember, so being on the course feels very familiar to me. I try not to overthink during competitions — focusing on one shot at a time and just play the game the way I normally do. Even when I don’t play my best, I treat each competition as a learning experience and move on to the next one.

2. How do you balance school, practice and tournaments throughout the year?

My parents don’t force me to practise all the time, so that helps me enjoy both school and golf without feeling too stressed. I just have to make sure I keep up with my school work, especially during tournament periods. I don’t practise as much as I used to when I was younger because I also give myself space to rest and enjoy other hobbies. Having that balance let me enjoy golf without feeling too pressured.

3. What has golf taught you personally beyond just playing the game?

Golf has taught me honesty and discipline, because in golf you are responsible for your own actions. I also learn how to stay calm, especially when things don’t go my way, and just focus on the next shot instead.

4. Which part of your golf game improved the most this year?

My long game improved the most this year, especially my driver. As I’m growing, my strength and distance have changed quite a lot, so my game is still adjusting. Being able to hit the driver longer has helped me rely less on woods and long irons, which I’m less confident with, and that’s made the game feel a bit simpler for me.

5. What would you say to encourage more juniors to take part in Club golf competitions?

I would encourage juniors to just give it a try. Club competitions are the best way to gain experience in a comfortable environment. You get to play with friends, learn how to handle pressure, and understand your own game better. Most importantly, it helps you enjoy golf more and grow naturally as a player.

RSGC JUNIOR GIRLS ORDER OF MERIT WINNER 2025 — SHEN YING TONG

Shen Ying Tong captured her first RSGC Junior Girls Order of Merit title in 2025, marking a meaningful milestone in her junior golf journey. Her win reflects her enjoyment of the game and growing confidence in competition. Following her first Order of Merit success, Shen Ying Tong shares her thoughts on the season and what golf means to her.

1. As a junior golfer, what helped you stay focused throughout the season?

Well, just pure joy of playing with my dad and my brother and hoping to gets better while having fun.

2. What part of your game improved the most this year?

The game that I focused on this year was probably just my short-game, especially chipping.

3. What have you learned from playing golf and competitions at a young age?

I have learned to just be happy and stop worrying and everything will just go your way.

4. Who supports you most in your golf journey?

My dad definitely supports me the most, he plays whenever he is possible even if he is busy. My mom supports me a lot too by driving me to the course and encouraging me as much as possible.

5. What would you like to achieve next in your development as a junior golfer?

As a junior golf, I don’t want to set myself a ton of goals and boundaries and give myself pressure. We will just see as it goes. I hope I can have more fun and meet other junior golfers whom I can share this joy with.

Congratulations to Casey Ng, Ainon Aznam, Lucas Long and Shen Ying Tong on securing the RSGC Order of Merit (OOM) titles for 2025. Their performances throughout the season reflect consistency, discipline and a strong competitive spirit. Well done also to all members and juniors who took part in the Club’s competitions.
