91 Players, 12 Countries, One Championship: The 11th RSGC Junior Invitational Golf Championship 2026

The Royal Selangor Golf Club successfully hosted the 11th RSGC Junior Invitational Golf Championship 2026 from 11 to 14 May 2026, welcoming 91 junior golfers from 12 countries for one of the Club’s premier junior events.

Played over 54 holes of stroke play, the championship brought together talented young golfers from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia and the United States. The strong international participation once again reflected the growing reputation of the championship as a recognised platform for junior golf development in the region.

The championship continues to provide young golfers with valuable competitive experience, challenging them not only on their technical abilities but also on course management, discipline, resilience and sportsmanship over three rounds of competition.

Defending champion Joshua Lim of Malaysia successfully retained the Boys Under 18 title after a thrilling play-off against Singapore’s Reyes Halim. Both players finished tied at the top of the leaderboard with 215 strokes after 54 holes of regulation play.

Returning to Hole 18 for the first play-off hole, both players matched each other with pars to remain deadlocked. The championship was eventually decided on the second play-off hole, where both players reached the green in regulation. Holding the advantage with a 20- foot birdie putt, Joshua calmly rolled it into the hole to secure victory and successfully defend his title.

Chloe Ng of Singapore emerged as the Girls Under 18 Champion after posting a total score of 224 strokes. Their performances were a testament to their consistency and composure throughout three rounds of competition against a strong international field.

Special recognition was also given to the Rookie Award recipients. South Korea’s Han Jae Ho claimed the Best Boys Under 15 award, while Malaysia’s Bernice Hwang secured the Best Girls Under 15 award after impressive performances throughout the week.

Apart from competing for championship honours, players also had the opportunity to qualify for the Taiwan Youth Junior Championship 2026. Through the collaboration between RSGC and the Malaysian Golf Association, the best-performing Malaysian players in the Under 15 and Under 18 categories earned the chance to represent Malaysia in Taiwan.

The qualifiers were:
• Best Finishing Malaysian Under 15 Boy – Jarvis Liew
• Best Finishing Malaysian Under 15 Girl – Bernice Hwang
• Best Finishing Malaysian Under 18 Boy – Joshua Lim
• Best Finishing Malaysian Under 18 Girl – Amelia Lim

Championship week also had its fair share of memorable moments, with three hole-in-ones recorded during the tournament recorded during the tournament. Malaysia’s Nurfathya Emylda got the ball rolling with an ace on Hole 17 of the New Course during the opening round on 12 May. On the final day of the championship, Singapore’s Reyes Halim recorded a hole-in-one on Hole 4 of the Old Course, before South Korea’s Jane Sim, one of RSGC’s very own junior Members, matched the feat on the same hole later that day. Three hole-in-ones in a single championship is certainly not something we see very often, especially in a junior event, making it one of the memorable highlights of this year’s championship.

As part of this issue, The Circular caught up with Boys Champion Joshua Lim, Girls Champion Chloe Ng, as well as Rookie Award winners Han Jae Ho and Bernice Hwang to hear their thoughts on the championship and their achievements throughout the week.

Most importantly, thank you to all 91 junior golfers who made this year’s championship so special. Beyond the scores and trophies, it was heartening to watch young golfers from different countries come together, challenge themselves, support one another and create new friendships throughout the week. One of the greatest joys of being part of this championship is seeing these juniors return year after year, growing not only as golfers but also as individuals.

RSGC extends its sincere appreciation to the Malaysian Golf Association, the referees, officials and all RSGC staff whose support and dedication contributed to another successful edition of the championship.
