A Royal Family Sunday Lunch at The Rotunda

In his speech at the Piala Agong prizegiving lunch, His Majesty mentioned that he had just heard about another food outlet at RSGC to which he had never been invited nor heard of. Members at the lunch realised he was referring to The Rotunda. The very next day, the Club was abuzz as Their Majesties arrived at The Rotunda for lunch with friends and members of the Royal family. Imagine our Members’ surprise to see the Royal family join them, in a pure relaxed and casual manner, almost like any other family out for Sunday lunch. HRH the Regent of Pahang also joined his parents.

Joining Their Majesties were friends Dato Sri Mohan Cheong and Dato Majid Manjit. Careful attention by RSGC’s Royal Butlers, Afizan and Sabri, ensured that everything was served with precision and grace.

Amidst this regal gathering, Halim Dato Merican and his wife Maria Jasmine had a memorable opportunity to engage with the Royal Family. Jasmine, with evident joy, shared her admiration, saying, “He is my favourite King!” The couple’s cherished moment of having their photos taken with the former King and Queen was a personal highlight, demonstrating the warmth and accessibility of the Royals.

Despite the peak lunchtime rush, The Rotunda accommodated Members and their families gathered for their weekend meal. The operational team from all the vendors at The Rotunda excelled, providing an extraordinary dining experience with selections of Yong Tau Foo, Satay, and Thosai served with skill and flair. The unwavering commitment to quality and service for the Royal Family received a thumbs-up from His Majesty with a positive verdict on the food.

Jimmy Poon, the Yong Tau Foo vendor, summed up the day’s emotions, stating, “Serving the Royal Family at The Rotunda is an immense honor and privilege.” His sentiment was echoed by all operators involved in the visit, making it a day to be cherished by everyone at The Rotunda.

This royal visit to The Rotunda not only highlighted the cultural and historical significance of such occasions but also brought together individuals in a celebration of heritage, unity, and respect. It was a day that transcended the ordinary, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were privileged to be a part of it.
