Amidst the crisp, dawnchilled morning of 10 March 2024, RSGC once again set the stage for a thrilling showcase of athleticism as it hosted the eagerly anticipated Annual Aquathlon. The resurgence of this beloved event sparked a surge of excitement amongst the members. As the sun painted the horizon with its radiant hues, 41 eager members gathered, prepared to embrace both the challenge and camaraderie of the day ahead.
The morning of that Sunday promised an auspicious start, catering to the seasoned athletes and newcomers alike. With anticipation obvious in the air, participants wasted no time, arriving as early as 6am showcasing their unwavering commitment. Swiftly, queues formed, with participants eager to finalize their registrations and don their body markings, marking their official entry into the competition.
Transitioning to the run for 17 years & above
After registration closed, a sense of anticipation filled the air as members engaged in warm up exercises and stretches. The serene ambiance of the Poolside Recreational Terrace, fondly known as the Tai-Chi Hall, served as the backdrop for the Sports Team’s briefing on the swimming and running courses. With precision and clarity, every detail, from the twists and turns of the swim to the undulating path of the run, was meticulously outlined.
For many participants, this briefing marked the final moments of preparation before the ultimate test of endurance and resilience. As the clock struck 7.30 am, the event commenced, with the Sports Team flagging off participants based on their respective age categories: 8 years and under, 9 to 12 years, 13 to 16 years, and 17 years and above.

As the starting signal echoed across the venue, the atmosphere crackled with energy. The first leg of the Aquathlon, the swimming segment, saw athletes swimming their hearts out with determination as each stroke propelled them forward.
As each swim concluded, participants emerged from the water and swiftly transitioned into their running gear, fueled by excitement and determination for the next leg of the race. Amidst the stunning scenery of the 2nd Nine Old Course, they ventured through the winding path from the start of the 15th tee, passing by nostalgic landmarks like the 11th, 13th, 12th, 16th, and 17th tees. Enveloped in the beauty of the course, the runners were treated to the nostalgic landmarks of the old course and were in awe of its beauty. However, despite that they were motivated by the relentless pursuit of victory. With fellow athletes pushing the pace and vying for podium positions, the competition intensified, driving each competitor to give their all in pursuit of excellence.

Amidst the course, the air vibrated with cheers and encouragement, a testament to the unwavering support within the RSGC community. Parents and friends dashed alongside participants, offering continuous cheers and unwavering motivation. Each step taken, each lap completed, echoed the indomitable spirit that embodies the essence of the Aquathlon.
As athletes crossed the finish line, they were greeted with cheers and applause, making their way through the finishing balloon arch. Some sprinted with competitive spirit, while others strolled with a relaxed approach. Regardless, each participant was rewarded with a mouthwatering buffet of fresh fruits, creamy yoghurts, and refreshing juices, topped off with indulgent French toast drizzled with syrup. It was a delicious celebration of their accomplishments.
In conclusion, the RSGC Aquathlon 2024 was a resounding success, reigniting passion for athleticism within our community and attracting interest from new members. This event served as a gateway for participants to experience the thrill of endurancebased racing and explore other athletic pursuits.
