Our Members had the opportunity to explore fresh challenges and invigorate their love for the game under Major Maniam’s expert guidance.

This new name focuses on the key difference to traditional squash – the larger ball, which has a maximum diameter of 57mm (compared to 40mm for a squash ball). Due to this, the tempo of the game is played at a lower impact variant and slower paced. Meanwhile, the racquets are larger in size but shorter. Combined with the element of a bouncier ball, this creates a perfect squashing experience for everyone who has an undying passion for racquet sports.

The sessions were lively with 10 Members actively participating in the Squash57 Clinic. We are excited to invite Members to explore Squash57! For those interested in getting started, feel free to reach out to us at the Sports Department for additional information and guidance via sports@rsgc.com. my. We’re here to support you in discovering this fantastic sport!

Major Maniam shared his experience introducing this new variation: “There was an average response to the two clinics we held at the RSGC. The people who attended showed interest in wanting to continue with the game. They had loads of fun and were able to play a game with only a 20-minute lesson. They all expressed a view that this was an easy game to pick up. Squash57 will provide ample exercise in a short time accompanied by a fun and challenging environment. I encourage Members to give it a go. Rackets and balls are available at the sports office for Members’ use. Bring your spouse, children and grandchildren along. Overall it was a good introductory event. Had a few fun games. Wish more Members would participate.”

Here is some feedback after the Squash57 Clinic:

Richard Samuel: Both Major and Mogan were very professional, helpful and patient. Excellent well balanced intro and instruction with a good amount of practical content which is important for the kids. It is great to see yet another sport being introduced and promoted amongst our younger Members. Keep up the good work!

Grace Leung: Overall, it was a good introductory event. Had a few fun games, wish more Members would participate.

Shelly Das Mathias: It was a fun experience because I already know how to play squash. A beginner would have something different.
