To honour the invaluable support from our sponsors and media partners, Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) organised a special Appreciation Day on Thursday, August 8, 2024. A critical factor in the overwhelming success of the 47th RSGC Ladies Amateur Open Championship was the almost RM 200,000 in cash and kind sponsorships, from food and beverage, team shirts, prizes, and even sponsorship of entry and caddie fees for players, coming from RSGC Members, suppliers and corporate friends. And that does not include the value of the SMART#1 car which was not won. A crucial factor that attracts sponsors to our event is the media value we receive, in print, on TV, online, in social media and in foreign media too. The media has always been a huge supporter of our event and this year they did not fail us. This year we received an outstanding total media value of over RM 1.8 million, almost matching the over-RM 2 million received in 2018 with the participation of the Vietnam SEA Games team. In appreciation of this support a post-event Sponsors and Media Appreciation game and lunch is held after every LAO. This year we had a larger field than usual with some very good golfers among our sponsors.

The Appreciation Day began with 34 enthusiastic players teeing off from the East Course at 8.04 am off from the East Course at 8.04 am and was followed by a much-appreciated lunch by our guests who rarely walk 18 holes! The friendly competition followed a Stableford format, which rewards points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole, encouraging players to score as many points as possible rather than focusing solely on their strokes.
After the game, participants gathered for a celebratory lunch and prizegiving ceremony. The afternoon was a fitting conclusion to a wonderful event, filled with camaraderie and gratitude.
During the ceremony, Ai-leen Tan, the Organising Chair, expressed heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and media partners. Their unwavering support and dedication were instrumental in the success of this year’s championship.
