Reviving Traditions: The RSGC Family Carnival

The RSGC Family Carnival made its long-awaited return on Saturday, 23 August 2025, at the Covered Court and Poolside Area. With the theme “Reviving Traditions,” the event gathered parents and children for a day of games, activities, and shared experiences, highlighting the value of family bonding within the Club community.

The Covered Court was the centre of activity, where 18 teams of parents and children competed in a variety of sports challenges. Events included Tic Tac Toe, Throwa-Ball-in-a-Cup, Egg Drop, Sponge Fill Water Bottle Sprint, Hopping Sack, and Bean Bag Toss. Laughter, teamwork, and light-hearted competition filled the venue. At the end of the session, the top six teams with the highest points were announced as winners of the day.

In the Taichi Hall, families enjoyed a carnival-style atmosphere with snacks and creative activities. Cotton candy, popcorn, and ice cream were among the treats on offer, while children took part in face painting, Lego making, and photo booth fun. The hall buzzed with chatter and colour, giving families a space to relax and enjoy the lighter side of the event.

At the 25 metre pool, the inflatable balloon and waterslide were clear highlights. Children splashed, parents joined in, and the poolside became a hub of activity, adding a refreshing element to the afternoon.

The Family Carnival aimed to do more than entertain. Its objectives were to strengthen family bonds through shared experiences, encourage participation in recreational sports, revive the tradition of the family carnival, foster camaraderie among members, and create lasting memories for children and parents alike.

The success of the 2025 Family Carnival showed how well-loved traditions can be renewed when families come together. It was a day of participation, laughter, and connection. A reminder of the importance of family and community at RSGC, and a strong foundation for future Family Carnivals.
