HPKK’s Mohd Nizam Hashim briefly introduced HPKK UKM
Volunteering for this project allowed RSGC Members and JUBILANT to contribute to an environment filled with hope and cheer. We firmly believe that happiness and laughter are crucial in speeding up the children’s journey to recovery. These small, yet significant gestures make a positive impact, creating wonderful and lasting memories that aid their recovery process. It’s not merely the quantity of our gifts, but the depth of our affection we invest in giving them!
Ezani delivers his welcome speech
We are delighted to share that after much effort this project was carried out under the Communications, PR & Events Subcommittee (CPRESC) to partner with my charity group JUBILANT for this special event, which took place on 24 April 2024, at the UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital (HPKK). The collaboration between JUBILANT and RSGC not only brightened the spirits of these children but also enriched the lives of our volunteers, providing them with a valuable and enriching experience. We extend our heartfelt thanks to RSGC Golf Convenor Ezani Abu Bakar, who graced the event as our VIP. A photo session was efficiently organised by Datin Genevieve Chong, Chairperson of Ronald McDonald House Charities at UKM, who also managed to invite Prof Dato’ Dr Hanafiah (Pro-Vice Chancellor) and Prof Datuk Dr Ismail Sagap (Director-General of HPKK) for a group photo in the lobby. Although Prof Dato’ Dr Hanafiah and Prof Datuk Dr Ismail Sagap had to leave shortly after due to prior engagements, their presence was much appreciated.
Briefing by HPKK UKM Mohd Nizam Hashim
Following the photo session, we were guided to a room where HPKK’s Mohd Nizam Hashim briefly introduced HPKK UKM. Both Ezani and I delivered short speeches expressing our gratitude for the rare opportunity to interact directly with the wards. Our visit continued under the guidance of Nizam and his team. RSGC Marcom team and Jubilant members distributing gifts and sharing moments of joy with the children and their families. Raya packets and colouring pencil sets, elegantly presented in Raya bags, added to the festive ambience.
Sandra Cheah, a paediatric music therapist entertaining one of the patients
To enhance the children’s experience, the RSGC team arranged for Dodo The Balloon Clown to craft whimsical balloon creations, eliciting radiant smiles from the children. Additionally, RSGC Member Sandra Cheah delighted the audience with her musical talents, bringing warmth and cheer to the wards. Sandra’s longstanding commitment to volunteering further enriched our visit. She has been volunteering at Kuala Lumpur Women and Children’s Hospital for 4 years and is currently in UM Hospital in the Paediatric department. It was truly a privilege to have her join us on this meaningful occasion.
Dodo the Clown in action
The reactions of the children and their parents were heartwarming, serving as proof of the joy and comfort our visit brought them. Unfortunately, we could not visit the Hematology-Oncology ward due to ongoing treatments, but Nizam ensured the gifts were delivered. This initiative not only enhanced our club’s brand image but also demonstrated RSGC’s strong dedication to social responsibilities and CSR initiatives. As for my charity group, JUBILANT, we are committed to continuing our philanthropic endeavours, constantly striving for improvement. We will also continue to inspire and encourage more individuals as well as corporate entities and clubs, to engage in CSR initiatives.
Faiz spreading joy, one gift at a time
Three cheers and a hearty bravo to all the volunteers whose efforts made this event a resounding success!
