Oktoberfest at RSGC roared back to life with a vibrant celebration that truly embraced the spirit of Bavaria! Held on 4 October 2024, this lively event brought Members and their guests together for an unforgettable evening filled with fantastic music, mouth-watering food and endless fun. With a smaller attendance than usual, the event was moved to the Banquet Hall which was transformed into a festive wonderland, beautifully adorned in blue and white—the traditional colours of Bavaria.
The highlight of the night was the music from the band Joe & Seine Schurzenjager from Germany, returning for the 3rd time to captivate the crowd with their lively performance. Members and guests celebrated in true Oktoberfest style, raising their steins and shouting “Prost!” at every opportunity. By one and a half hours into the event, the third barrel of beer had been opened. Songs included nostalgic hits from the 80s and 90s such as ‘It’s a Beautiful Day’, ‘Fliegerlied, ‘Hey Baby’, ‘Flowers’ and even ‘YMCA’ which of course had everyone dancing and singing along with great enthusiasm.
Naturally, a specially curated Bavarian menu was served, including sausages and onions, creamy spaetzle & cheese, soft pretzels, German sauerbraten, delicious roast chicken, traditional potato salad, and delectable Bavarian donuts. Each dish was a delightful nod to Bavarian culinary traditions, filling the air with irresistible aromas.
This year’s festivities not only highlighted the rich Bavarian culture but also reinforced the strong sense of community that makes RSGC so special. With laughter, music, and delicious food, it was an evening that brought everyone closer together.
