Lady Golf Captain’s Corner

Dear Ladies, As March began, we enjoyed several exciting Trophy events. Congratulations to our regaining Club Champion, Kelly Low, and to Rika Lai on winning her first Bronze Championship.

We also proudly recognise Ainon Aznam, our Order of Merit 2025 winner, for her season-long consistency and dedication. In addition, we are pleased to acknowledge Lai Set Fah, winner of the KE Cheok Cup, and Chizuko Hirata, winner of the Consolation Cup.

Our monthly competitions have been wonderfully subscribed, and I sincerely thank all who participated for keeping the spirit of play alive.

I am delighted to share that our recent reciprocal guests truly enjoyed the hospitality extended by our members and management. Your graciousness reflects the finest traditions of our Club.

The Prosperity Social Golf was a wonderful success. Everyone had a fantastic time from the tee box to the finale at Modesto, with laughter and camaraderie further strengthening our bonds.

I warmly welcome our new members. May you find comfort and friendship here. Please feel free to reach out to me or the Ladies Golf Section Working Group anytime. We look forward to sharing many memorable moments together.

Looking ahead, the Ladies Golf Section Working Group will be organising next exciting social golf after Raya. I look forward to seeing all of you there as we continue to build our community and celebrate the joy of golf together.

QUESTIONNAIRE WITH RSGC LADIES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 2026 – KELLY LOW

Stella: Warmest congratulations on regaining the prestigious Ladies’ Club Champion title. How does it feel to reclaim the crown after 2023?

Kelly Low: It feels incredibly rewarding to reclaim the title. Stepping back into that competitive environment and competing in such a highly regarded championship always brings out the best in me. Winning it again reassures me that my game is still strong and that my competitive mindset remains sharp. It is a wonderful feeling to see all the hard work and preparation pay off once more, especially in an event that means so much to me.

Stella: Facing a three-stroke deficit, what thoughts were running through your head, and how did you keep your composure under pressure?

Kelly Low: When I was three strokes behind, my main focus was staying confident and committing to playing my best golf. I reminded myself that there was still plenty of golf left to play and that anything can happen in a competition. It was important not to get ahead of myself or dwell on the leaderboard, but to stay present and take it one shot at a time. I also kept in mind that you never know when your score might end up being the winning one, so giving up was never an option. Staying patient and trusting my process helped me manage the pressure and keep pushing forward.

QUESTIONNAIRE WITH RUNNER-UP RSGC LADIES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 2026, SIM JANE

Stella: Congratulations on a fantastic performance as the defending Ladies’ Club Champion. You were the overnight leader by three strokes and came so close. How did you feel during the final rounds?

Sim Jane: First of all, I would like to congratulate Kelly on becoming the champion again. Although it may sound like an excuse, I had just participated in the Asia Junior Masters held at Black Mountain in Hua Hin from the 3rd to the 5th. I only returned home late on the night of the 6th, and when I played the Club Championship on the 7th, my shots were fairly good on the front nine, but from the back nine onward, I struggled physically. After the first day ended, I practised until late, and on the second day, the 8th, my swing really did not go the way I wanted.

Stella: Having been a two-time Ladies’ Club Champion in 2024 and 2025, how do you reflect on this year’s competition and your performance?

Sim Jane: In conclusion, I believe I need to improve my physical fitness. Although I was not able to secure the championship for three consecutive years this time, I learned a great deal from this tournament. I believe this experience will become a strong foundation for my growth, and starting next year, I will not give up on reclaiming the Ladies’ Champion title.

RECIPROCAL CLUB VISITS

RSGC was delighted to welcome lady guests from Nara International Golf Club (27–28 January) and Ryugasaki Country Club (4–5 February) for friendly social games. Blessed with beautiful weather, our guests enjoyed memorable moments of camaraderie both on and off the course.

We are deeply touched to receive heartfelt messages from our guests after they returned home with wonderful memories of RSGC’s hospitality. Their kind words mean so much to us and inspire us to continue strengthening the bonds of friendship through the game of golf.

A sumptuous buffet prepared by Chef Joey followed, with “nian gao” featured as a highlight, representing prosperity and rising fortunes in the coming year.

To conclude the event, each participant received a lucky dip ang pow as a token of appreciation, leaving everyone with smiles and festive cheer

May the LGS Fatt Choy Social Golf Game continue to flourish as a cherished tradition of the Section.
